Generally speaking (don't want to start a new thread as this topic is quite accurate), what's the best - realistic - thing that can come out of this season?

I'd say...

No more Rafa bullshit during spring and the Mascherano deal sorted come summer.

Us finishing 4th, or perhaps 3rd (a question of prestige, yet an important one).

Winning the FA Cup.

Reaching the final stage in the CL.

All is very much possible (especially the first three parts), if only or luck could turn. Right now everything seems to go against us.

The best thing is obviously to win the CL.

Realistically though, i think the FA Cup is our best bet. I just think that the way we are playing and the fact we've got Inter, we are going to struggle in the CL.

But we are Liverpool and you never know. We have a better side now that '05, and if we can get all the off the field drama sorted come late Feb-early March, maybe we can sort out form out and reach our potential.

United wait in the wings for Anfield hitman

Man Ure manager, Alex Ferguson, who recently responded positively towards our under-pressure manager Rafa Benitez, is waiting in the wings to launch a bid for Fernando Torres should the Spaniard be relieved of his managerial duties.

Fergy, a keen admirer of Torres, almost signed him 2 seasons ago for a snip at £13million but Fernando decided to remain loyal to his Madrid employers, until Rafa came knocking of course.

With Fernando being valued in excess of £30million, our American owners could be tempted to cash-in on our fearless prized-asset who has bagged a whole array of goals this season, in order to finance a rebuilding programme under a new managerial regime.
