Common Problems: Living with the parents

For those of you currently living at home with your parents, and those who have fled the nest but can still remember the little niggles of living with your mum and dad (mum especially) i think you will be able to relate to the following common phrases used by a moaning ma.

Key: M = Mother

Y = You

M: 'tidy you room'

Y: 'I have'

M: 'I don't care tidy it again'

M: 'I'm sick to death of your attitude'

Y: 'What attitude?'

M: 'Don't give cheek, tidy your room'

M: Your not sittin round the house all day watching shit on the tele, get a job'

Y: 'What d'yer mean i've got a job'

M: 'Get another one' ?

M: 'You wouldn't speak to me like that if your dad was here'

Y: 'Yeah i would though'

M: 'Don't give lip, tidy your room'

M: 'Didn't you think to do the dishes?'

Y: 'I've just got in'

M: 'Oh it's alright cos i have to do everything round here dont i'

Y: (cough cough)

M: 'Have you been smoking that wacky backy again?'

Y: 'No just got a tickly throat'

M: 'Don't lie to me, tidy your room'

Of course there are many more in mothers repetoire. Basically most of their psychology revolves around getting their sweaty vegetating offspring to persistently tidy the bedroom. Add your own if you can think of any more.

yer treat this house like a bloody hotel.

When I was at uni the first couple of weekends that I was there I brought my laundry home for my ma to do, she starting complaining that I was treating the house like a hotel so I started doing my own washing during the week and my ma started complaining about that as well.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I moved out when I was 18 and moved briefly back in when I was 22 and it was a nightmare, once you get used to freedom and doing things your own way it is hard to go back.
