Socialism - actual socialism, not just social policies - has been dead in this country for a long time and inside of Labour too; Corbyn or those within the Socialist Campaign Group won't bring about Socialism. There's one party offering that, and that's the Socialist Workers Party which will require a revolution to achieve. Even they say you should vote Labour in the elections. If the SCG, Corbyn, and Momentum couldn't win an election - in fact, lost very badly - from inside Labour, then how the hell are they going to actually compete otherwise?

Labour, who will nationalise rail and have worked with their affiliated Unions to draft day one legislation to give workers the best rights they've ever had, and will now potentially offer electoral and/or structural reform inside Westminster, have the first real chance of getting a majority in well over a decade in the next election and can deliver these things. If that's not good enough, and it might reasonably be argued that it's not, then I agree with Anubis; they should split as soon as possible. The problem with that is it's suicide for the Unions and their members because they'll be dealing with a Tory party forever and that party will have enough power to absolute destroy them because they have no opposition, at least in the short term. After that, the breakaway party will slowly die because it won't be winning anything, so only the diehards will stay. Eventually it'll do what SWP does and say 'Socialists should vote Labour'.

The Labour Party have overcome a recent split when some on the right fucked off to form Change UK, in the eighties it was the SDP.

The Labour Party is skint and the Unions pay the rent, so it's those not in line with Union's objectives who will have to follow the Change UK lead and form a breakaway party.

History tells us the Labour Party will not fold because some on the right split and form another party.

I've said it before, but the best time for a split would be after the introduction of PR. Then there'd be a legitimate (and I imagine fairly sizable) left wing voice in Parliament. Ironically, it's for this reason, I believe, it will never be brought in.

As ive said its not for the left to leave because they have support of most unions, who finance the party. As in the past it has to be the right that leaves to form a new party, otherwise their will not be a split.

I'm beginning to hate Labour. They feel like the cunts who stand by while kids get abused because they don't want to get sued. Shithouse party maybe we can hoover up the tory voters who are losing faith but let's not rock the boat too much. The whole fucking country needs rocking out of this fucking stupor. Shove your polls up your arse, no believes in Labour they offer fucking nothing. Fuck them. There is no party for ordinary working people any more.

Who's shooting the messenger? It was just a reply to his tweet from some rando. The content of his tweet is stupid, Starmer isn't allowed to have anything to do with the disciplinary stuff. It's all just fluff that gets in the way of getting rid of the Tories.

Waters is a fucking tit.

The fellas responding to him certainly think so. I like Pink Floyd but couldn’t tell you what their politics are. Can’t say I care much TBH. I just want this dangerous shower of shit in number 10 to be fucked off.

Agree on all counts. Waters is famous for telling people what they should and shouldn’t do, Gilmore fucking detests him.

I understand why they're so desperate to be seen as a safe, uncontroversial pair of hands, but they're pissing off an awful lot of their core vote. Or at least those who are vocal enough about it to be heard. I just hope they retain enough vote share to get rid of this Tory government. As I've said, probably the best scenario is power sharing with the Lib Dems (who couldn't possibly get back into bed with this current guise of the Conservatives, surely) who insist on PR as part of the deal.
