Liverpool 3 Brighton 2

Quite remarkable. The full backs combine again to put us in front for the first time.

Tony Gallacher wide on the right plays a cross field pass to find Owen Beck inside the Brighton box. Takes a good first touch, beats his marker and then smashes a right footed effort beyond the visiting keeper.

Full-time - Liverpool 3 Brighton 2

An improved second half performance, but only after we'd gone behind again and changed formation to a 3-4-3.

Still not near our normal standards, but this lot are a resilient bunch and scrapped their way back into the game before the full backs combined to grab the goals that would win us the game.

Half time 1-0

Well deserved lead, we've created virtually everything, our pressing has been exemplary all over the pitch, and if their keeper had been less alert, we'd have wrapped the game up.

Also, their defenders were going down with cramp at the end of the half, and it's not down to today's weather...

One or two shaky moments around defending set pieces, but for the most part, we're well on top and should have a much more comfortable lead.

Woltman is finding space wonderful little spaces, but his efforts have mainly been straight at the keeper, who in fairness is having a good game.

I know he missed a chance he should have done better with but you can tell Gordon has talent. Long way to go for him and his mentality will have a lot to do with whether or not he makes it but it’ll be interesting to see how develops over the next couple of years.

Gordon looks very good at this level. Probably could actually step up to the 23s now talent wise, but might just need a touch more physical strength for the next level. The lad just needs a tap in and then I think you'll see his confidence grow even further.
