Report: Number of teams interested in Lazar Markovic

Speculation is high that we may finally be in the last few days of the Lazar Markovic era at Liverpool.

The Liverpool Echo reports that a number of clubs are interested in the services of the Serbian Winger who arrived at the club in the summer of 2014 from Benfica for a fee of £20 million.

While reports in Turkey say a permanent move to Besiktas is on the cards, it is believed that Liverpool are not involved in official talks with the club at his stage.

Another interested party is believed to be Club America in Mexico, but any deal would have to be concluded by Thursday when the transfer window closes in that country.

The stint of Markovic at Liverpool has been remarkable in the fact that his last official game for the club came in May of 2015.

He played 34 games in the 2014/5 season scoring three goals, but since then he has had loan spells át Fenerbache, Sporting Lisbon, Hull and most recently Anderlecht.

A permanent deal for Markovic to sign for the Belgian giants was close to fruition in August, but the Serbian international could not agree to personal terms.

It is clearly evident that Markovic is not in the plans of Jurgen Klopp and he has spent the first half of the season with the U/23s to keep up his fitness.

With these types of players like Markovic who basically have no future at the club and yet still pick up their weekly wages, it can be nothing short of a nightmare getting them off the books once and for all.

With the contract of the Serbian running out at the end of the season, it will be a victory of sorts if we can get any sort of fee for a player who wont be remembered fondly by most, if not all of Liverpool fans.

I can go to my grave saying I saw Markovic start for Liverpool at Anfield .

He was fucking crap , the game was crap and the only reason I remember it was because we won umpteen + 1 to umpteen

on pens . The crowd was so bored at the end no one could give a toss and we just wanted to go home. Thanks for the memories Lazar .

There are points I look back on throughout my Liverpool supporting life that fill my stomach with an empty feeling, such as Hodgson’s reign. Another one was 3-4-3 under Rodgers, with Can playing right side of defence, Stirling the striker and Markovic at right wing back. Grim

He came, he saw, he sat around for a year.

He sat around for another year.

Sat around for a third year.

In this, his last year - he again sat around.

Then - he fucked off.

We will never forget the way he flew down the wing with the ball at his feet and then unfailingly collided with the opposing full back .A move he could repeat for the full 90 minutes.

The cunt's really setting West London alight, isn't he. As he did for Fenerbache, Sprting, Hull and Anderlecht.

We paid  £20m for this dope. Even by Aquilani/Carroll/Balotelli standards that's a piss-poor piece of business.

Thought earlier, we got no transfer fee for him or Balotelli, so given their wages and contribution would have been better off flushing half of the Suarez fee straight down the shitter.

Great days.

Don't know what happened to him as soon as he signed for us. I was genuinely excited when we bought him having watched most of the Europa League run he was on the season before. Part of the reason why Benfica lost to Sevilla was because he was banned having been sent off in the semi final.

When he came here he got played out of position but even if he was he still would have shown something to demonstrate why we paid 20m for him. He just did absolutely nothing. Maybe it was the realisation that he was getting paid shitloads for doing very little but then 4 clubs basically a level below us have all taken the decision to wash their hands of him. Don't think there's ever been a footballer who has dropped so low in such a short time. He's basically gone from one of Europe's most promising and exciting players to the fella you wonder how he's managed to blag everyone that he is a professional footballer.
