Okay Johnny ,lets say we had to choose between a British manager in the Premier League and any other top manager in Europe, who would it be??

Hard question. In an ideal world I'd love to have a Scouser as manager. I love that our Captain and one of the best players in the world talks with a local accent. It just seems right.

However, if you are asking me right now, then I'd certainly say a foreign manager as no current British Manager is currently good enough in my opinion.

The most important characteristic of a manager is their ability to do the job, not their passport.

If and when it becomes a choice we need to make, we have to evaluate the credentials of the best candidates and then make a decision from there.

It would be better if there were more successful British managers to choose from but that's purely for logistical reasons.

Paul Gascoigne....he could start new life at Anfield. With Carra as a playing coach.

Seriously, I would, but at present there is not a quality british manager around. I say around, not available, because there is not even one top british manager.

That'd be the best football management duo ever.

All the British managers knocking round now are awful. The only one I'd even consider having is Hodgson. And I'd have to have a very large amount of time to consider.

I was wondering about current British Managers. But I take what you say with a pinch of salt.

You've lost me. What bit would you take with a pinch of salt? My whole post seems fairly obvious to me and is probably how most feel.

Having a Scouser as a manager. I would love it if Carragher was Liverpool manager eventually but wouldnt you rather have someone with title winning experiences?

Maybe if he managed another club somewhere else first?

That's exactly what I want. It's exactly what I said in a thread about this very subject 6 or 7 months ago. I'd love to see Carra as our manager but no way do I want him cutting his managerial teeth with us. I'd like to see Carra go and learn his trade with lower league clubs and then maybe a smaller Premiership side and after a good few years, if he is successfull then come back to us and lead us to glory. It'd be fantastic.

Technically, Paisley, Shankley and Kenny had no experience of winning the title as a manager! As I say, technically.

If Rafa did go and we were offered a manager who had just won two league titles in a major European league and a Uefa cup we would bite their hands off, up against someone who had done quite well with his Premier league team there would be no competition.

I think Carragher could do with being given a coaching role, and then look to bring him through as manager. I see no reason to not do that, Barcelona, Juventus have proved it CAN work.

Now that would be something.

Fair point. Juve and Barca have shown it can work, but plenty have also shown it doesn't work. I just don't think we are in any place to be taking chances and risks now.

Someone told me last night that our owners were looking into Martin O'Neil. I laughed it off at the time as I dont think he is good enough for us.

Please god no.

He has been give decent money and Villa and has done nothing, we should stay well clear.
