  1. I went once in uni with some mates for the free booze - make sure you tick "yes" for everybody if you can, then you get to see everyone who ticked yes for you :D
  2. A similar thing happens with the Bristol / UWE matches. Normally from what I can see the majority of people from either uni don't seem to give a damn, but come the football (and especially the rugby; stupid fucking posh city boys) games and everyone turns into the "Your dad works for my dad" chanting knobheads you've just described. It's so superficial that I'm surprised more people don't see through it.
  3. Aye. I think this day and age though there's way too many independent sources for news programmes to get away with spinning things too much. Judging by the amount of mobile reporting going on using social network sites, the city-wide wireless etc we've probably seen a first in terms of Internet reporting..
  4. How many people is that £165 spread over?! I generally spend around £30 a week on myself, but I am in rip-off Bristol.
  5. I always end up necking orange juice, seems to get me up and running in no time.
  6. Bollocks, it stops just by Bankhall St so I can't see Crosby!
  7. Looking at the film as a whole Identity wins slightly, but I think Ultimatum has the best set pieces. Identity also has the best music.
  8. I always found I'd damage the top of my mouth on the biscuity bit if I tried to eat them whole so I guess I too am a nougat seperator.
  9. I like making pasta the night before and then eating it cold the next day.
  10. I will owe £28k not including interest by the time I finish. Now I'm lucky in that I've got a decent job for when I finish but I feel for the people who were accepted here that quite obviously weren't up to it, and how have £22k debt hanging around their neck and a job they could've got 3 years ago.
  11. every couple of weeks i have the horrific experience of trying to pick out a film from the moviebank thingy to watch with the girlfriend. IP DIP SKY BLUE ah not that one, what about this. it never ever ends =[
  12. Easy tiger. I'm not having that I'm afraid, apparently he put one pass out of play. 65 out of 72 passes were successful so you can hardly say he couldn't pass to his own players. Either he's holding back from playing riskier forward balls, and you could make a case for that, or he's got no-one to pass to that isn't sideways or backwards. It's a bit of both I feel, mostly the latter. When the opposition defend deep he doesn't have as many chances to play one of his lofted through balls in behind, and because half of our front line seem to be uncomfortable with coming towards the ball and turning on it the quickfire pass into feet usually isn't on either. Go watch Spain v England and us v Boro and you can see both those differences. And just to make sure I don't get pigeon-holed because every debate has to be completely polarised around here - yes, I don't think he's been playing that well either.
  13. I like these chalkboard thingy's Chalkboards | Published chalkboard Chalkboards saved - ATx44i3Of6h2r8T42007 | Football | guardian.co.uk Xabi passes like a machine but look how he can't get a ball into the final third around the Boro penalty area. Either he's been told not to try it - or people aren't making the runs. Also worth noting that we made 2x as many passes as Boro in that game and had nothing to show for it. Carra is also perfect in his distribution.
  14. Masch and Xabi aren't the problem. That's a fucking quality CM right there. The problem's the complete lack of movement and width up top. We can't keep possession without completely dropping off the line between the oppo defence and midfield, if we don't we give the ball away. As someone said earlier look at United's centre mid pairing; it rarely goes much further than the centre circle. Swap Albert and Dirk for Messi and Ribery and this thread wouldn't be here. Merge our central players with Arsenal's wide ones and this thread wouldn't be here. =/
  15. Inter can't cope with football played at a fast pace; they leave so many gaps. Midfield is shite.
  16. It's shit how it takes 5 months to build up a decent bit of stamina, but all that can be lost in the space of two careless weeks. I go for the take-no-quarter approach these days, pizzas and kebabs aren't allowed within 20 yards.

    Bread.

that Warburton's Toastie stuff is the king amongst bread that is to be toasted, but generally i go for a cheap brown loaf
  18. there's a time and a place. am at uni in Bristol and it's almost mainstream here, especially in the non-posh places where I live. in a mate's house after watching some footie, no, on a nice big set o speakers in some dingy club, yeahhhh
  19. Seconded. Fucking umbrellas should be banned. Three quarters of the people carrying them don't even appreciate that they need to give other objects in their path a wider berth because they're carrying 3ft of plastic over their heads. Bastards. Even worse when two such fuckers meet. It's carnage.
  20. Yeah the Plaza in Crosby is ok. Watched the Bourne Ultimatum in there once with me dad and about 2 other people in the entire place. It's a bit messy inside though.
  21. Not calling him shit at all; he's good, but he's the kind of player for whom a step up technically would be too much. See a certain R. Keane, for example.
  22. Cos we don't need an average technically poor defender. Keeping an unfit Torres quiet with the other 7 members of his team camped in their third of the field isn't something to shout about. He's decent enough - but put him in a decent team where he has to play the ball AND has to mark more space and he'll fail spectacularly.
  23. "We completely controlled the game, although neither side played especially well" So you didn't play well, but managed to 'completely control' the game - how the hell does that work? 'Completely control' apparently means 'didn't manage to concede' these days. What a fucking idiot. It's like a little kid running around his older brother trying to get on his nerves to make him feel big. Might get a few small victories here and there but in the grand scheme of things will get swatted away.
