PODCAST: Bellingham and the World Cup Reds

We're back after a few weeks off and there's a fair bit to catch up on. Seven Reds went to the World Cup and six are still there. Or is it seven?

It appears that there have been significant developments on the Jude Bellingham front with reliable sources in Germany claiming the teenager favours a move to the Reds, while we've all seen with our own eyes just how close he's grown to Hendo and Trent. Is it actually happening? Is it agreed already?

Chris Smith is joined by Julian Richards, Stu Montagu and TLW Editor Dave Usher to talk Bellingham and other World Cup observations, while the lads also answer a range of questions sent in by you, the listeners.

2 things stood out. First, Paul being all in on Bellingham, last time he was this all in on anyone, we got Keita in.
Second, Stu not thinking of Alisson when talking about LFC players that had been good during the WC so far. Good on Chris to bring him up.

oh and this should be in the ‘feeling old’ thread on the gf, considering how many references there are to things happening 30+ years ago.

Take it up with Chris, he picked the questions that we used!

I’ll take that as a no. Negged.

Numbers wouldn’t have shied away from the most repped post in your request thread, just because it was controversial.

Watched about ten minutes of that earlier today. Not very good to say the least.

I also loved how silent Chris went when Friends got brought up. You could hear the disdain ticking in his head and his response of “the girls watched Friends” (paraphrasing here) and Jules was like “Fuck that, Monday night on S4C with Sgorio, then NFL with Gary Imlac, Frasier, then Friends till 1:30am, then up at half eight for school” like it was a righteous passage into manhood.

Jules rules this pod (again) but for totally different reasons this time. And I doft my cap to him. (If I had one, but I’m 44

and rightly so not possess one)

I’d have loved to hear John G’s opinions on the telly section.

Good to hear Monty calling out Mbappe, and as much as the lads won’t like it, he was bang on.

Fantastic listen!  Laughed out loud more than once.  Well done to all.

I am heartened that there is more than me that has literally never seen Bellingham kick a football.  On the strength of this podcast I am going to break my Engerland duck (since 1990 if I am honest) and watch the France game.  This lad had (A) better be good.  (B) better sign for Liverpool.

"Greater sacrifice has no one than this, that he watches England for his team."  (John c15 v3)

Also, I had to smile as I was literally walking my dogs along a canal when England were playing that Euro final.  Only us BBC website watchers will know just how long those penalty updates took.

PS  I also thought Jules was talking about Brittas Empire.

*I watched the highlights of the Senegal game just now. He looked alright.

I hated it though. I won’t be watching that France game. I feel dirty and treacherous and tainted and remorseful.

I hate England.

I’ll wait to watch him in red.

It's Holland.

This bullshit is like when people started calling Upton Park the Boleyn Ground. It was ALWAYS Upton Park and then people started calling it the Boleyn like that's what they'd always said even though nobody ever had.

Deep dive for 2001 is a great idea; be great talking about how we absolutely stole the FA cup final against Arsenal, I still laugh my head off watching the highlights for that match.

If it happened to us this year, there would be 60 threads and 59 of them would demand violence.

I made this same point in the groupchat. Even Dutch people called it Holland (Dirk defo did, I remember him saying it, pretty sure I've heard Virg using it too).
