Kicking off in Northern Ireland again?
YorkshireRed replied to Mendoza's topic in GF - General Forum
Not sure. This might be in the same ballpark as thinking it’s ok to label others a fatso, if your wife’s behind “does look big in this” (which I’m sure it doesn’t).- 1,026 replies

Too ‘wouldn’t touch me with a barge pole’ for me.

I enjoyed his trilogy including; The Power of the Dog, The Cartel, and The Border. 8/20 (average score across the three books) The Force as a stand alone was also a rollercoaster of a read. 7.5/10 Won’t be a shared view on here, but I don’t rate the Danny Ryan books as highly. I’ve read the first two, I’ll read the third, but they haven’t gripped me as much as some of his other efforts. 7/10 average score across the first two books of the trilogy.

Kicking off in Northern Ireland again?

They could, but I’d be checking how habitable your friend’s garden shed is first. If they don't have an outbuilding to sleep in, I’d suggest you recommend they stick to less contentious pet names.- 1,026 replies

Every time the camera panned to her she was chewing. I like to think she’d taken a ‘pack up’ and was munching her way through scotch eggs, chicken legs, pork pies, and egg and cress sandwiches. She probably wasn’t.

I had an unmentionable coach once, nicknamed tank. Not a bad looking chap, and a very decent guy. I didn’t want to do him, although I do occasionally think about him. In conclusion, a ‘do tank’ is a bridge too far.

I’d also factor in what drives that ‘choice’. My brother maintained always that it was “his life, his choice”. He was mostly right of course. It was. He was empowered by those choices, in ways he wasn’t elsewhere. I think those choices were driven by; addiction, fear, anger, a lack of confidence, low self esteem, a sense that he didn’t belong, conscious/unconscious cries for help, that another direction was too difficult etc.. It’s too late now to know for sure, but if he could have been helped more (or perhaps differently is more accurate), then maybe he’d have made different choices.

This is 100% true. I absolutely never do this, quite the opposite, yet a discussion in the pub the other day (I wasn’t even involved in it) about who those contributing would prefer to win the league started with one saying.. ”definitely not Liverpool, for obvious reasons” He then looked at me. He wasn’t joking. If my humility in the face of success those clowns can only dream of still gets that impact, then being exposed to the dozens of ‘reds’ who couldn’t even name the losing XI in the 1950 FA Cup Final, yet still get in their faces at work, the pub etc. has certainly had an impact. Throw in the anti Scouse brain washing they’ve mostly had their entire lives, and any positivity towards LFC is very limited. I’d even go as far as to say that some, not all, hate us more than United. They mostly pretend not to care at all, but they do really. To be fair, I also pretend not to care about the Leeds results. The answer to the discussion, as an aside, was City (Surprisingly, not Arsenal). They care not about their cheating, as long as they beat Liverpool, United etc.

I despise Leeds with every fibre of my being.

As a student I lived a stones throw from Bramall Lane. My first sighting of one Robbie Fowler came at a reserve game there. I’d noticed this kid making the ball talk during the warm up. Reminded me of me. Can’t remember the result, but I do know he scored. This didn’t remind me of me. Not remotely relevant to the game this week but still… -
Little Things That Brighten Your Day

Skirting with the unmentionable but my youngest just came into the room I’m watching it on. Given he’s a teenager I thought he might be interested in knowing that Ed Sheeran is in attendance at Portman Road. ”Guess who’s in the ground?” I said. After a bit of cat and mouse, I told him. ”I know that guy, I think” That he wasn’t sure did make me smile, he knows who the Beatles are, but that wasn’t the main thing. I had that a few minutes when he came bounding back in to inform me… “He’s alive” ”What are you on about?” said I. ”You said he was in the ground, but he’s not dead, he’s alive” He was genuinely outraged that I’d told him some popstar he was vaguely aware of was deceased, and he very much enjoyed telling me that my choice of language had been a disgrace. Made me smile. -

If there isn’t a perfect fit available, which it seems there isn’t. I wouldn’t be totally against this. Obviously it’s a risk, but so are all the candidates being currently linked. He’d need time, but there’s a future Liverpool manager in there. Next season would be a massive throw of the dice but he who dares…

What constitutes the perfect cooked breakfast?
YorkshireRed replied to ISeeRed's topic in GF - General Forum
I bet there’s a few on here that own a toast rack. It might be predominantly a left leaning website, but that doesn’t stop posters aspiring to climb the social ladder via the power of a storage holder for toast. -

To be fair, I like a toast rack. I don’t own one myself, but have a healthy respect for those that do. Its position on their table is a clear message that they know they’re better than me. I nod towards it with grudging acceptance. There’s no point setting myself up for humiliation, by thinking anything different. Some have, some haven’t. It’s just the way it is. -
Next Manager Poll (Sans Alonso)

It’s obvious where this is heading. I’m surprised Edwards hasn’t already come calling. Sorry lads, I’m not doing it. The job needs a younger man. Ideally one that doesn’t mind getting dressed and leaving the house. -
Balance. I say it multiple times a day when I’m talking to groups. “it’s all about balance” ”find the balance” ”you will need to balance..” Reality is another one. ”in reality” ”you will need to work within your reality” ”theory is one thing, reality is another” ”balance that with your reality” I don’t half talk some shite.

I think that’s true, marginally. Gerrard was the better player though, could play anywhere. Souness was the greatest at what he did best.
