Good pod.

Agree with the general feeling that at this time of year it's all about powering through and getting the points. Doesn't stop me wanting to see us play well though ...when was the last time we swept another team away?

I was made up when we bought Nunez, then have been a bit disappointed, but I'm back on Darwin the train - if he's not playing I'm not interested!

There was probably an emphasis, whether planned and instructed, or unconsciously, by the players to expend less energy, due to having a game 63 hours later.

We are also missing four of the starting eleven, including three of our back five. Mac Allister was clearly affected from the challenge midway through the first half. We looked relatively comfortable, if not dominant. In December, that will be enough in most games.

Klopp doesn’t seem to want to rotate as much for midweek league games as for the Europa but teams like Palace are not used to playing every three days, and hopefully we will have enough energy to dominate tomorrow. We have 5 days after that before the Union dead rubber, so we should be relatively fresh for the Mancs on Sunday week. They play Saturday/Tuesday but their midweek is do or die against a top team.

2 league wins in the next 9 days and we are in a great place.

What I would say to that it get to 3-0 early (or even 2-0) against these shit teams and then save as much energy as you like. Don't play along with their "keep it tight and then go for it in the last 10".

Another ref could give that pen against Konate and then we've got another Luton. We have to be better against these terrible teams.
