They don't always go back to the decision and that's the problem. Attackers have often won corners from offside attacks. If the ball ends up in the net, go to VAR. If it doesn't go back to what the lino originally thought.

That’s the original point I was making.  The times they don’t go back are because the linesman didn’t think it was offside (even if it was).  The only way they could go back is by judging every offside decision by VAR which isn’t going to happen.  If the original decision by the linesman was offside but it was tight and he’s unsure he keeps his flag down and then the linesman flags at the end of the attack whether the ball ends up in the net or not.

I take your point but I don't think that's what's always happening. I think some  linos are ducking out of tight calls and not making any decision because they think they have a VAR comfort blanket. The game goes on and sometimes the attack unfairly gets a corner or possession from a throw-in. We've lived for years with linos getting calls wrong and that's football.  What's wrong is them not making tight calls at all. Let them make a call, not stop the game, VAR if it goes in the net and if not go back to their call if they thought it was offside.

That’s what Dave was saying first time around that I didn’t get.  As annoying as it is though you would surely rather concede a corner from a liner shitting it than just outright concede a goal that was offside because there’s no VAR.  I think it suits our own game the way it is.
