Reina claims he's here to stay

The saga over Pepe Reina’s future took a further twist today with the keeper saying that he’s “here to stay” as Napoli refuse to meet Liverpool’s asking price for the Spanish keeper.

Former Reds' boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly keen to take the Spanish keeper to Naples permanently but not at the release clause set by the Reds, which according to the Telegraph is £3.95m. With no vacancies at any of the big Spanish clubs and seemingly very little interest from elsewhere, Reina has found himself back at Liverpool despite having written a farewell letter to the fans a year ago that also contained a parting shot at an unimpressed Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers reacted to questions about Reina’s future by saying yesterday “Pepe made it clear last year where he is at. We will see what happens over the next few weeks”. It would certainly appear that there is no way back for the former Barcelona and Villarreal keeper, with Liverpool reluctant to pay 100k a week for him to sit on the bench and Rodgers settled on Simon Mignolet as his number one.

Reina, however, claims he is going nowhere. "I have a contract to respect with Liverpool. I'm training well and I am perfectly fine with my team-mates," he said. "I am here to stay. I have not talked to Brendan Rodgers, I've been here for only four days and I am just thinking of training to my best and getting back into shape."

“All the big Spanish teams are covered in my role," he added. "I see it as very difficult to return to Spain. It's normal though that over the years you want to return to where you came from, so we'll see."

Needs to be McGonigal.

"...and I would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for you meddling Skids!".

Yeah, I've used it before and I'll use it again.  My shit jokes are nothing if not ecologically sound, mother fuckers.

I think your subconcious racial views about Frod are affecting your ability to see clearly. It is obvious you and a few others have issues with this scandinavian poster that go beyond football.

It seems Frode's created an alt, to stick up for Code, whilst simultaneously trying to misspell his own name so people don't suspect him of actually being Code. This is the genius level of deception on show here.

Or maybe it's someone else trying to lead us off the trail, the puppet master responsible for Nightcat and all the others.

The making early accusations of racism spread across multiple pretend identities is interesting though, I must admit.  Clinically interesting I mean.

Okay I have to be careful as you will think I have the madcow but I will explain.

Let me explain my logic on the subconscious racism. I am guilty of this myself if I hear an Irish or Aussie accent shouting at one of our games I often think of Father Ted or Alf Ramsey. I think straight away ssshhhhh and want to point the remote at them and have them disappear.  This is wrong and stupid but it happens.

Now if the same applies to opinions on the internet it is fair to say that maybe people do not take the views of Frod the Norwegian seriously due to his ethnicity. I often find some of the most unbiased views on football can be from everywhere. We have grown up watching Saint and Greavsie and Keys and Gray this has left us scarred. I read some of insert random spelling of Frodes name tweets, some are very harsh. But they are as harsh as people watching Aspas in friendlies and saying he is a genius. My point is just because someone talks a lot and happens to be Norwegian it does not mean they do not have relevant points and should be dismissed. The Englishman feels he is far more knowledgeable about football than the rest of the world. This plays a part on us viewing other nations as lesser and having a lesser view. So I am taking a stand for my comrades around the globe.

That'll be it.

Bit in bold written with a perfect native English speaker's authenticity, by the way.

Hmmm; this thread seems to have gone statically mental. How did that happen?

Code came back. Oblivious to the fact there isn't one person here that doesn't know it's him.

We're all a bunch of Norwegists.

I might be in the minority here, but I'll always love the guy.  The sprint he did to get past all his team mates, to be the first to celebrate with N'Gog after his goal against the Scum will always be a fond memory.  If he leaves, I'll still be a bit sad, but it's probably for the best.

I thought it was Reina who did that, not Code.

Lopez and Reina have the same agent I wonder if Reina is hoping to be paid off like Lopez for his good service over the years.

The arrival of Keylor Navas and Carlo's backing of Iker Casillas for the coming season have pushed Diego López towards the club's exit door. Real Madrid are seriously thinking about paying the player all monies owed stipulated on his contract and allowing him to sign for any club that he wishes. All at the Bernabéu are grateful for the keeper's work done and professionalism and for this reason will do everything to make his leaving as painless as possible.
