What a genuinely fantastic, positive podcast.   Angry at you @Chris ?  I’d hug you if I saw you.  I didn’t think it’d go down the cry arsing like the forum did, but it is so nice to here a proper grown-up look at the business we’ve done.  The assessment as to whether or not we should actually be buying a number 6 was really interesting.  I was all in on the idea, but now think maybe we should keep our powder dry and use the money for a top left sided CB.  Totally agree with Stu regarding Fabinho and him getting the blame for the entire midfield falling off a cliff.  Felt like I was on my own on that during the second half of the season, so nice to listen to someone who knows what they are talking about say it too.

Could have a Holly Willowbooby type opening for all the Twitter meffs. Great opening nonetheless.

I’m gutted I wasn’t on the bus listening to this like Johnny was. Instead I’m sat in the Dr’s waiting area to get a lipoma cut off my head.

Not that it's a terrible thing, but I think you guys actually talked about Szobozslai for maybe 5 minutes tops, despite the title of the pod. At least it felt that way. Felt more like a general discussion. 

I liked the Tyler Adams sidebar. Agreed with that.

I feel like most of the stuff we talked about was within the context of signing him if not directly about him. 

Yeah I'm just messing it was a good podcast.

You got Monty being a nerd with the numbers. They talked about his YouTube video, and that Dave has brought his handicap down to 10..odd. And Chris have the best opening to the podcast all year. What more do you want?

Good shout on outside the box shooting, with Macca and Dom. one way to break down packed defences and encourages defenders to close down the shot and possibly create space disrupting the defensive pattern. 
 

I thought Monty was spot on about the likes of Fab and why we are where we are.  As the season progressed we seem to have forgotten why it was such a poor season. Are the players suddenly shit or was it actually that psychological and physical fatigue from coming so close, 63 games, a reduced pre season and injuries that just meant that mentally they checked out. Form is temporary, class is permanent and all that, I’m sure VVD and Fab etc will kick on again after a proper mental recharge and the change in system to mentally reset and refocus ( as Dave said).

Finally love it Dave is still on the  pronouncing Lavia as in Labia ting. Nice

Woke up in a cold sweat last night thinking about Emi Martinez having 30 goal kicks due to all our long range shooting.

In open play a goalkeeper rarely gets booked so unlikely to ever hit the 10 yellow ban. They might need to bring out the Martinez rule. 

However, it was fifth-bottom Aston Villa who received by far the most bookings for time-wasting. 

In their 1-1 draw at Liverpool in May 2023, Villa collected four yellow cards for time-wasting, more than 11 clubs received in the entirety of the campaign.

Their main offender throughout 2022/23 was Emiliano Martínez. The Argentine collected six bookings for time-wasting, a tally topped by only two clubs other than his own. The majority of the 13 players with at least two yellow cards for this offence were either goalkeepers or played for Villa, and Martínez obviously ticks both boxes.

The Saudis clearly paying refs off if Newcastle only had six bookings for time wasting. They should have had that many just at Anfield.
