  1. Of course his agent doesn't make statements without his prior knowledge. I was reading between lines in that Rafa's statement said he had no agreement with Juve and that he wouldn't be talking to them. He may or may not have done, but he couldn't come out and say he has!! I wasn't being too serious, as the last line of my post was intended to indicate.
  2. Hicks turning up on Satdee, Rafa issuing an official statement. Linked? Cynics might say "He would have to say that wouldn't he?" And if the Agent is doing all the talking, then, strictly speaking Rafa isn't talking to another Club. Derby week, isn't it great!!!
  3. Sterling work by ATK & DD, again. There must be some willing on Moores' part to correct things as surely he'd have just blanked the meeting if he didn't give a flying one? Parry's involvement is strange. Can't figure that one. Unless one is acting for Hicks and the other for Gillett? I suppose it's a case of wait and see.
  4. Shit football, crap ref, great entertainment!!
  5. I've been expecting this one for a while now. Dear oh dear. I don't want ANYONE who calls ferguson "Sir" managing this Club.
  6. Should Benitez talk to Juventus without the permission of the Club, would that render him sackable without recompense? Could the Club insist he sacks his agent if he talks to Juventus?
  7. Is right. It's a pity, and a scandal, that apart from supporters and the likes of SOS, it only appears to be a few journo's and some of those with a "checkered history" with the Club (Souness, Collymore etc) that are prepared to say anything publicly against Hicks & Gillet. Jocky Hansen, for example, has one of the largest audiences available at the BBC when he fronts MOTD, unless he has been told not to speak out, then why hasn't he?
  8. IF Rafa were to go and IF we were to appoint a foreign Manager to succeed him i'd prefer Capello. Whether we could afford him would be another matter.
  9. Kuyt has qualities that endear him to most of us, but a second touch that often turns out to be a tackle isn't one of them! Never questioned his workrate, honesty or fondness for the Club. But he isn't a right winger/midfielder. Playing him as striker last night, Rafa put a round peg into a round hole. He should do more of this.
  10. Voted no. As someone else has said, i'd much prefer us to have a renaissance and start to put daylight between us and them again, preferably while ferguson is in charge. Perches and all that. Though this might sound sacriligeous, they and Arsenal do play some good stuff, but the manner in which united seem to have influence over things stinks at times. Still and all, football for us wouldn't be the same with them gone I think. Nothing like the feeling beating them and the BS gives is there?
  11. Does that mean we'll win the League for the next 2 seasons as well?
  12. Mason is a typical "homer", the home team get everything in the first 15 mins and last 15mins of every game he referees. I think Riley has taken over from Hackett as Referees supremo hasn't he?
  13. Ngog, who was tired and didn't do a lot really, taken off, Kuyt pushed into the middle as the striker, Aquilani brought on, and Degen, who's a full back, taken off for Rodriguez, who's an attacking midfielder. How is that not taking the game to them with positive changes? It's hardly negative. And we conceded from a corner, once again poorly defended because whoever was on the far post when the corner was taken moved away (Carra?). Any team is built on solid defence and ours has been crap all season. You might be able to blame that on the Manager, but he picked the right team to play Stoke with the players available and made positive changes before the end. I was happy with the fight and attitude shown by almost all the players today, and without our "star" players, against a team who, like it or not, are generally difficult to beat at home we were a better finish by Kuyt away from a win. I only hope the same fight and attitude are in evidence against Spurs on wednesday.
  14. I think if Torres was sold it's be the straw that broke the camels back for me. It wouldn't be that it's Torres, it's be because the remaining semblance of what made the Club famous and renowned the world over, that which had been built up over the years with Shanks, Paisley etc., the solidarity between Club and supporters, that's what will have been sold down the river for profit. If we sell Torres that will be telling me the Club has settled for mediocrity, we will have become an ordinary Club. And I don't think I could put up with that.
  15. Probably be on unless, there's a another cold snap. It's feeling a bit warmer over here today and there's a bit of a thaw. Snow flurries last night but all the schools are going back and the main roads are clear.
  16. At the start of the season I thought it would be us or Chelsea with Chelsea having the stronger squad but with the ANC possibly getting in their way. Now I think it will be Chelsea, even though no team has proved to be infallible. Whoever flicked off the confidence and performance switches at the end of last season, could you switch them back on again please?
  17. The timing of this is perfect, as it's a slow news week for the journo's with all the games being off and with little movement in the transfer markets. That so many media outlets are carrying SteveH's piece is a coup for SOS and all LFC fans who care about the Club. A small light at the end of the tunnel perhaps.
  18. The only signing, ever, that made me believe I could actually do a better job.
  19. I remember Gerrard saying last season, after one of our games, that "the shackles are off..." can't remember which game it was but it was around the time we whacked united at OT. This suggests that the players were either told to put the "shackles" on or did so themselves before this. I know that after this we played arguably the best football of any team, certainly in this country, until the end of the season. Maybe it might be an idea to remove the shackles and the ball and chains we've been playing with this season and we might actually start performing
  20. The plus points for this Chamakh is that he appears to be quite cheap and Wenger apparently rates him. The minus points are he appears to be quite cheap and Wenger hasn't bought him when allegedly he's got money to spend at Arsenal. He's also French and although N'Gog might make a decent striker yet, our record with French players is abysmal. Save up any money and buy a bit of class for the squad. We've enough numbers as it is.
  21. Gemelli Diversi, a Happy New Year to you also. UEFA were warned by LFC and the Merseyside Police that the Heysel ground and arrangements were inadequate from a security point of view and ignored the warnings. The point is, there were more to blame than just LFC fans for the fighting and the manner and circumstances in which it started, but the deaths at Heysel ultimately came about because some of our "fans" charged those in the section reserved for "neutral" fans and the resulting crush collapsed the wall which led to 39 innocents dying. For that we will always be sorry, ashamed and will always be blamed. No amount of finger pointing will bring them back though. God rest their souls. I applaud your posting and hope it leads to better understanding and, ultimately, more respect between us and yourselves.
  22. The main thing I took from the result at OT was that in any other season, manu would probably have beaten Leeds and that they didn't is another indication, I believe, that they are on the wane. Ferguson's desire to hang around for no19 and another CL will be their undoing. Not that it helps us like!
  23. Once the ball is in the air it's anybody's. The trick is to try and get the ball in an area you know will have your players there, and preferably more of them than the opposition. For that you need a corner/free kick taker who is reasonably accurate at varying the delivery, some way of communicating where it's aimed at and players who have the bravery to attack the ball when it's delivered and get their heads on it. This takes practise at all those levels so is it any wonder why we're crap at them? I think all our players do is fitness work (and not so much of that since Pako's gone) and five a sides. At least it looks that way!
