  1. The forum is J1897network. com here the message from Liverpool fan: am writing to you in the hope of providing some explanation in respect of the banner seen at Anfield on Saturday for the Derby game against Everton. I know that some of you will not wish to read this nor try to understand the explanation i will give, and of course i understand that and the emnity that no doubt still exists amongst Juventus fans towards Liverpool FC and it's fans. But i implore you not to be dragged into any false coalitions with the supporters of Everton FC who simply use our shared tragedy and the deaths of the innocent 39 to score trivial and disrespectful points against thier neighbours from across Stanley Park. Everton supporters have no interest in "Justice for the 39" other than to further thier own "victim" status of being excluded from european competition after the terrible events of the Heysel stadium, driven by thier hatred for all things Liverpool FC. The banner was not in any way meant to mock the dead of Heysel and i know the lads who made the banner and the reasons why. For many years now, there has been a re-writing of history amongst Evertonians that they are the victims of Heysel as they would have "definately" won the european cup in 1986 (a season incidentally whn Liverpool won the league and cup double). This exclusion us used as a catch all excuse for the fact they they became a very mediocre side and club in general and were almost relegated twice in the 90's. None of their problems are caused by themselves, only the heysel tragedy. They are merely trying to manipulate your fallen brothers and sisters to thier own gain and regualrly sing songs about Heysel and indeed Hillsborough, which has led some Liverpool fans to make an ill informed decision to make a banner to goad the evertonians, but i can categorically state that the message behind the banner was not ever meant to dissrespect the 39 victims fo the heysel tragedy, merely to mock the lame revisonist history of bitter evertonians. Indeed, everton displayed a banner themselves at the game on Saturday proclaiming "39 dead italians can't be wrong" ringed by the everton club crest and naming each victim of the disaster. In the same way that the false freindship offered by Fiorentina fans recently was turned away by Liverpool supporters, i implore you to realise that you are merely being manipulated by these evertonians for thier own gain and not out of any sense of justice for the 39 dead of Heysel. They have never became attached to any justice campaign and nor will they ever. It is they who have repeatedly mocked the dead of Heysel by using thier good names in some sort of ridiculous game. I realise that the banner is considered distateful and understand why you would think that, but it genuinely was not intended to mock the dead of Heysel, merely everton's claiming of victim status from the tragedy. I understand if you do not wish to read this messgae or care to hear the explanation, plus i apologise for writing in english - i hope it translates ok. In memory and friendship 29/05/85
  2. Hy Reds, I'm a Juve fan, A Liverpool fan come on ours forum to explain why you made that banner.. There are different ways to mock the opponent and that banner was not at all sympathetic.....however the explanation that he has given and waht i read on this thread can be truthful. I believe your words, but you should understand that these kinds of banner certainly don't help the reconciliation between Liverpool's and Juventus' supporters. We actually do appreciate what you're saying but this is a really 'hot topic' so it's difficult to agree (even though i think those times are over therefore i have no problems with liverpool supporters). What happened at Heysel was a shame... I just hope nothing else will happen! Cheers
  3. hy Reds, Following our recent contact on occasion of the issues surrounding the “twinning” between Fiorentina and Liverpool, we wish to share a few thoughts with you. First thing, we would like to thank you for the way you handled the situation with the planned “welcome mosaic” not happening. We appreciated that, because it showed understanding, awareness and respect for the memory of Heysel. We hold all this into great consideration and will not forget it. On a more general note, we would like to share with you our feelings about the whole story. In hindsight, this has been the first time in 25 years that our sets of fans (i.e. Liverpool and Juventus) have been really communicating spontaneously about issues connected to the Heysel, and that is a positive note to be taken in. A few of our supporters guested in some Liverpool Forums, and there were healthy and decent discussions. Of course, it was not all peace and love. The debate showed that there are still some differences between our sets of fans that perhaps will never be settled and points of view that we will never agree on. But we spoke openly and frankly, and probably we needed to do that after 25 years in which Liverpool and Juventus have been two worlds apart. That we managed to open a ground of debate is a little step forward in itself. In fact, a better one than the UEFA-enhanced friendship ceremony at Anfield in 2005. You might now being asking yourself: so what? A step forward to what? Our whole initiative about the “information campaign” on the twinning had no other goal than the honour of the memory of the victims of Heysel. The way we communicated with each other in this matter was a small but important lesson to be learned for the future. We will probably never be friends. But with frank communication and a bit of goodwill on both parts we can manage to find a common ground of mutual respect and be constructive for the aim of honouring the Brussels casualties and their families. And so that might easen up the bitterness that has surrounded our relationships since 1985. Destiny and football will sooner or later put us in front of each other. With this small lesson in mind, let's see what will happen. Our sincerest and respectful thanks to all those Liverpool FC supporters who have contributed to protect and defend the memory of our 39 Angels. Happy new year
