The big boys strike back

I loved South Korea in the last world cup and think it's a shame some of the better underdogs have gone out such as Ghana and the Ivory Coast but it is a good quarter final line-up.

And for the record Greece were the cream of the crop in the Euro's; that's why they won it. Defending and keeping the ball, simple stuff really.

Only the Greeks will remember their displays with any fondness, they made my eyes hurt and pissed me right off by beating the Czech's. I still can't fathom how Theo Zagarakis captained the best team at Euro 2004.

Everybody likes an underdog, but after the farce of South Korea and Turkey reaching the SF's in 2002 and Greece winning Euro 2004 it's nice to see the cream rising to the top again.

Only Portugal and Ukraine of this years QF teams have never won it previously, only Uruguay are missing from the list of previous winners.

Why was it a farce? they both got there on merit.Granted S.Korea had a few dubious decisions along the way but they`re usually in favour of the big nations.(Italys pen v Aussies a case in point).

It wasn't particularly pretty but I like the fact that teams which actually play as teams have been regularly beating collections of good individuals recently. Porto being another example.
