  1. 23 is fairly young, especially for a player who doesn't really rely on athleticism as much as he does size. If he was pacy already then we'd need him to be where Torres was when he came. As it is Andy is not a fast player. If he can develop his insticts, movement (in terms of positioning and timing of runs rather than actual pace), and become quicker (short bursts of pace ie - a quick first and second step to create space for a shot, agility - turns, change of direction) and perhaps add a bit of guile to his game. then he can succeed for a longer time than a player who is mainly based on being able to run onto to well placed passes. Let's face it, without lots of hard work with a fitness coach and a speed coach Andy is never going to be outrunning defenders over a long length of the pitch especially with the ball at his feet, but he could develop into a player that can use his long stride to his advantage along with a quick burst of energy to momentarily sprint past a defender and either win a header, get his foot on a low cross, or hopefully do it with the ball and have a shot on goal. In fact from what I've seen of him, his game has the ability to develop him into a bigger version of Suarez albeit without the dribbling ability but "better" in the air do to his size (he's already a good target for crosses when in the right positions). I'd say he could even emulate Suarez ability to shape his shots (curl the ball) as that aspect is all technique really but we'd only ever see that in the premiership if he developed the other aspects of his game that allow him to create space and subsequently time to be able to do that. In any case, the time for him to move on these things is now rather than later so if he hopes to reach his potential he needs to get to work.
  2. Agree with this really. Suarez is a very theatrical player when it comes to getting fouled, he makes the most out of them and all one has to do is watch him play to see that, but it's not the same as blatantly diving when there isn't contact. In fact Suarez tends to try to fight through contact more often than not when he thinks he's in a good position to score. His "reputation"; courtesy of this thread's namesake along with his handball at the WC, the biting at ajax, and the "supposed racism"; is what causes the refs to overlook them. In all honesty it would not be profitable for the man to blatantly dive because if there is ever a player that a ref would love to card for simulation it's Suarez, the assaults against his character [some of them his own fault (the biting incident), others depending on who you were supporting at the time (the WC handball), and others still based on allegations by a single man and his scum football club] allow refs to punish him for such things with ruthlessness and yet I can't recall him being carded for it at all in a Liverpool shirt.
  3. That really does sum it up perfectly. There are a few people on there who tend to have reliable information, particularly DJPhal who seemed to know the team a bit before it was released to the public. I don't know if he still does that or not because I don't go on there as much. This Royhendo fella was a bit hit and miss from what I remember. No matter who it is though there is always what you describe above which begs the question, why say anything at all if you can't really say anything?
  4. Count me in. I'm not a fan of xenophobia. Considering our most successful period in recent times was when we had a team largely consisting of foreign players, I'd say it's a bad idea to limit yourselves to players of a certain nationality. It'd be nice to have a scouse spine, and I understand the sentiment behind that, but we really should be after the best players we can get whether they're from Liverpool proper or Azerbaijan.
  5. Quoted for truth. There was time, before Rafa, when I wouldn't have minded Mourinho. That said he can fuck right off now. The guy is a top class cunt, and that's really all there is to it. I wanted Pellegrini when Rafa first left, don't follow Malaga at all though so have no idea how he's getting on there. Deschamps seems a good manger, as does Klopp, and of course Guardiola but with him you have to wonder how much of it is down to him and how much of it is down to what he has at his disposal. A bit like Mourinho really, disregarding porto and him being a cunt and all. Wouldn't mind seeing what Rafa could do with a decent amount of cash and owners not trying to fuck him over at every instance, but I don't think FSG want to take that path, so it's no use in mentioning him as a legitimate candidate. Should the man ever return I'll support him as our manager, should he not I'll just continue to respect what he did for our club whilst he was here. To be honest though, if they decide to get rid of Kenny the next guy better be a fucking managerial savant otherwise we're fucked and would be in the business of firing managers every season. A manager needs time (Hodgson being the exception) and for a man who's proven himself before at this very club, a season and a half isn't enough time.
  6. I genuinely want to know, if Rafa was ever our manager again, however unlikely you may think it to be (the camp which I'm firmly in by the way as I agree that FSG probably wouldn't give him a real look do to his issues with previous ownership boards), would those of you that don't fancy him support him at first? Or would you just stick the knife in immediately?
  7. Yep he was a real DI so when all the actors failed they just had him play a DI in the film. Iconic performance but imagine having him as your Drill Instructor during boot camp. Couldn't get away with half that shit now though I'd say, especially the choking bit. The first half of the movie is pretty epic though but there are a few darkly hilarious scenes in the second half. Particularly the "How do you shoot women and children?" "Easy, you just don't lead them so much."
  8. You can definitely make the argument that it's racist, because it reads like one's taste in women is discriminatory based on skin color. Always winds people up too when you make that argument, example being you. That said I generally agree, like them or don't like it's your own choice and has fuck all to do with anyone else. Ms. Gayle would be one of many for me as far as black women are concerned, but seeing as I had never heard of her before, thanks for that Bjornbye.
  9. I agree he's brilliant and certainly the best player of this current generation. That said, the lack of world cup success actually makes the case for those saying "it's because he's in the right barca team". I tend to agree that he makes that team what it is, and they wouldn't be nearly as good without him, but until he does it with other players around him people will continue to use it as a reason to say he's not the undisputed best player ever. Either fairly or unfairly.
  10. Most managers rotate, it's only overlooked because our coach is no longer a "dirty foreign fat spanish waiter" but Kenny Dalglish, who the media won't go on a full campaign against because they know just how fast they'll be fucked if they do.
  11. Is right. We've hit a massive fucking bump along the way but we create chances, and barring a few times this season, we're rarely outclassed even if we don't get the result we would have liked. Kenny needs time to put his plan into action and a season and a half is not enough time. Not making 4th (which looks very likely barring a miracle run and help along the way) is by no means a good thing, that said, if we get ourselves a goal scorer or one of the strikers currently on the books picks up form in terms of finishing then we're laughing right now and all having a great time. Also, who else is out there that would be an adequate replacement? Last time we fucked off all the adequate replacements, including the man currently managing us, in favor a yes man that was incompatible with our football club. I realize our ownership situation has changed since then but I'm still suspect as to who out there is really capable of doing better, and I'm not even going to start on the Rafa idea, because our owners don't seem to want any part of him (along with a good portion of our supporters) so it's irrelevant to discuss him.
  12. In the interest of diversity, you know just in case the fail or some random association of people looking to crucify those they know nothing about get wind of this thread: Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal. Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal. Being "politically correct" whilst still seeing a nice rack, who'd have though eh?
  13. I think we miss him, and I think it's obvious. I also think he offers more to the attack than some realize, but it's more to do with creation, than it is with finishing and since our main problem is finishing, it's still irrelevant to point out.
  14. 1.) Skrtel - Great display all around really and didn't lose it when Agger left which is great as it seems when paired with Carra his performances drop for whatever reason 2.) Downing - Leaps and bounds over what we've seen most of this season barring a few flashes here and there. Hope him starting and performing well leads to us seeing the same in the league, especially against the big clubs as I've always thought he does better against the smaller ones. 3.) Kuyt - Scored in extra time, cooly slotted away the pen after Gerrard's was saved and Adam sent his into orbit. Would probably be ahead of Downing for me if he started. Honorable mentions Suarez - Not his best game by any means by was a constant nuisance, gotta love his work rate. Glen - Scored his pen when all the pressure was on him to put us on the front foot when he very easily could've shit himself. Carroll - Attack wish he was off the pace, but his defending on set pieces was very good, definitely not man of the match quality but he did his part at the back.
  15. Agreed. Plus if our "average" squad goes through to FA cup final (which looks a realistic possibility) and/or qualifies for the CL (this one looks a bit harder), then it won't be looked at as "average" at all. Whilst also being significantly improved upon in the summer. As far as Henderson goes, seemed overwhelmed today but he's got time on his side hasn't he? Perhaps for the money it wasn't a good buy but if he develops then that will be forgotten. Being in the starting 11 for the King's first cup final upon returning AND our first direct chance at a trophy in damn near 5 years has to be a confidence builder if anything.
  16. Surprisingly I wasn't too bothered by that miss because Henderson was always putting that over the bar anyway. On the replay you can clearly see he was only ever getting under it. All the other criticisms are pretty much spot on. Downing appears to be the complete opposite of the rest of the team too. Does well against the "small sides" blows it against the others. Bellamy on would be a good start and we need to stop rushing our attacks. Enrique also needs to pass the fucking ball when he's around the box. I don't know why he cuts in on his right and shoots from the edge like that, surely he's proven to himself he's not that guy by now.
  17. A racist is a racist whether that person is the only fucking racist in town or not. It has nothing to do with power and everything to do with prejudice. What an absolute moron. Talk about divide and conquer, yea, let's all unite against Whitey. The irony is astounding, when will these people start to understand that the only way to get rid of racism is to stop drawing lines at race?
  18. The only reason I can think of is that Torres still hasn't forgotten about Liverpool and Rafa would just remind him of Liverpool and Torres would fall deeper into despair over being an utter cunt of a person.
  19. I usually read to the first randomly bold word before I realize it's that guy who uses randomly bold words. Then I move on.
  20. While part of me does wish Torres hadn't been such an utter cunt back then and stuck with us, I don't wish it to be at the expense of Suarez. Thankfully though you're wrong, and the initial point was for them to play together. Us signing or not signing Andy Carroll is also an unknown, although we probably wouldn't have bought him the last day of the window and therefore if we did buy him wouldn't have paid as much.
  21. That was pretty damn good for someone who isn't a native speaker. The bold bit especially was comedy, couldn't stop laughing, even if it pisses me off in reality.
  22. Barnes has the best idea and I'll give short simplification of it. The best way to steal a racists thunder is not to respond at all. Simply get the fuck on with it, and be the best fucking person you can be at the time and do whatever it is your doing to the best. I know this thread is about the owners, but in all honest they best thing them, the club and Suarez could've done would have been to shut the fuck up and make the FA, Evra, and Ginsoak prove something was said. Whether Evra truly felt abused or not is inconsequential, the man looked like he having a shit day from the off and Suarez was doing him time and again that day. Then all of the sudden he pulls the race card. Knowing full well that the FA would dare not question one of HIS players, nor would they have the balls to rightly point out that Evra has done similar before with no evidence ever being found. As a matter of fact the whole "based on the balance of probability" conviction, works both ways. It could easily be argued that "based on the balance of probability" Evra is a calculated liar who knows how to play the media and his own fans against another club, it's players and fans. Personally I'd be delighted if John W. Henry's form of stepping in was issuing a big "FUCK OFF!!!" to the English media. Then hiring John Barnes in some capacity that puts him and his opinions in the public eye on behalf of Liverpool FC. Any further calls for a statement could then be fulfilled with a simple tweet of "Fuck off - Talk to Barnes."
  23. Henderson lacks the discipline to provide the cover required, whilst Adam lacks the mobility. Losing Lucas has really fucked us as far as CM goes. Perhaps we should try a Gerrard-Spearing combo in midfield and see what happens. At least we know Jay will make sure he does his defensive job first and foremost.
  24. Excellent Article, get him as the PR man asap.
