  1. Perfect way to put it. I always ask myself how I'd really feel in that situation. On one hand you should be pretty happy because your $5 dollars (max) just turned into about $200,000 or so. On the other you pretty much know now that you'll never win it all and that your best chance had just passed. Fortunately for the football club, it's not all about luck.
  2. If Sun Tzu was our manager we'd tactically rape the league every year. I'd rather have Vlad though, for the fear effect.
  3. I do think another manager could find a way to use him effectively. I don't think Rodgers even wants to try though.
  4. Whilst I ultimately agree with this opinion. Given that are our owners are from a Baseball background they might actually be open to a wide price-range. Time will tell of course but Baseball games are pretty cheap compared to the NFL and the NBA. The fact that football is the top sport over there is what sways me your way though.
  5. I had totally forgotten about that. Shithouse move. Still though he took out De Gea the other day, so at least he's trying to endear us to him.
  6. I think the only way Rodgers catches any shit from this match is if Rafa has Chelsea completely outclass us tactically and that results in a huge loss. If Rodgers competes but we have a goal draw or a 1 goal loss due to individual brilliance, or a shit refereeing decision, he'll be fine. A 0-0 would have most of us pissed off again I'm sure but I don't think he'd get a bad reception. If Rodgers wins and tactically we have the beating of them then he'll get a great reception post-match in my opinion.
  7. They'd probably read it and make him the Manager. Of course, the good news would be that he'd definitely be getting sacked soon if that was the case.
  8. I voted no, but in reality I suppose it depends. There's loads of issues where someone would call me a "left-winger" then there are other issues where someone would call me a "right-winger". The way I usually explain it to people is with most social issues I'd probably be considered more left than right and with most fiscal issues regarding the Government I'd be considered more right than left.
  9. I don't watch City often but when I have seen him play it wasn't his attitude or his ability really it was that he'd find a way to get injured every time he had a good run in the side. With Sturridge it was obvious at Chelsea that he'd thought he had "arrived" and was their star even when in a team with much better players around him. It's what made me vote "too early to tell" and "don't want" on a few of the polls around here. Of course his start here was brilliant but since then I think we all can agree he still has learning to do. With Richards though, he is still relatively young so time is on his side and if the injuries have no lasting effect and don't keep happening then he'd be a good signing, the problem I have with it is that I see no reason to suspect they won't keep happening hence the "failed potential" comment. Basically in my opinion us going for him is us going for the level we're at and not the level we need to be.
  10. This thread is essentially what most of those who aren't yet married but expect to be are looking forward too.
  11. I gave it the too close to call. Was leaning Vergara but Hayek's tits were out. I suspect had we had Vegara's tits on show then she'd have won for me.
  12. Fuck me, I wish I could post a negative diatribe and call you a cunt for that but in reality it's probably the best comparison out there. Getting behind the manager is the right thing to do as you said, but if were not careful that's exactly what we'll be left with. Happy with mid-table/Europa and a CL berth every now and then with a challenge for one more often. Rodgers might not be worse than Moyes but I'm not at all convinced he's better either and that is a sad thing to admit. Great post man, only thing I disagree with is I do believe Suarez will be here for one more season at least, if we get CL then he'll stay and if we don't he's gone.
  13. I think in the first half we looked like a team who's manager had told them he didn't give a shit about qualifying for Europe. Now, I think we can all agree that the Europa League is a shitty knock-off CL with no luster to it mainly because of the format change and the fact that winning it gets you a few million and then fuck all as it no longer has the CL tie-in, but a manager just should not be saying those things and certainly not to fucking press. I thought we only truly became urgent when Reading decided they were going to try to win the game and you could argue that it was later, when we were running out of time. Sure McCarthy was out of his skin, and we had some bad luck as well but this is a team that had only kept 3 clean sheets all season prior to playing us. We had the advantage man for man across the park, every single one of our players is better than theirs (yes even Downing) and yet we could have very easily lost. As far as Lucas goes he's clearly not at his best. We have no one else so he'll continue to play but we need competition for him. Him being an attacking midfielder is probably never going to happen at this club. I think he has it in him, but he's not going to beat out Gerrard for that role anytime soon, though if we had another DM then I'd have him over the rest of our midfielders next to Gerrard (assuming we play the 1 dm - 2 CM/AM midfield going forward).
  14. I agree as well. Best case scenario for me would have been that Rafa was never sacked and had one season with the new owners at least, when he was sacked (or rather left by mutual consent) I wanted us to get Pellegrini. Neither happened though obviously so best case scenario following the Hodgson debacle was Kenny, he performed well and then had a season where a shit-load of things compounded to have end up where we ended. I do agree that he made monumental fuck ups in the transfer market by spending on quantity rather than quality whilst in some cases paying sums that demand a quality player to do it but still there were loads of games last year that we would have won had we been scoring like we have been this season. Now with Rodgers, I'm 50/50 on him. There positives sure but there are also negatives to his short reign. For whatever reason our defense has gone from great most of the time to shit, whilst our attack has gone from shit to pretty damn good most games. The midfield is hit and miss under him as well but it's been that way since Lucas' first injury really, I do think they suffer from an inability to gel. Hey though his press conferences are "good" and he doesn't fight the media, for some people that's a plus I suppose, for me I could give a shit about the media really. Like Skaro I don't want him sacked but it's mainly because I don't want us to have to go through another manager and another transition phase and hope the new guy has the players buy in from the off and hit the ground running. Then there is the other bit about who takes over from him if we do sack him? Rafa hasn't exactly set the world on fire at Chelsea, and FSG don't seem to want him as they didn't even interview him (my opinion on that is Ayre as well as the rest of the people who helped them buy the club have been in their ear with regards to him), not to mention some our fans have an agenda against him s. So who's really out there? Possibly Pellegrini which I'd be fine with but I just don't see that happening, Ancelloti has supposedly been sounded out about something but who knows if that's even true, if so I'd take him as well. If it's not one of them two, and I'm going to take the liberty of assuming we aren't poaching someone like Klopp away from Dortmund, then who? I think in all honesty if we were to sack Rodgers we'd be shopping from the same "bargain bin" anyway so chances are it would be someone else like Rodgers.
  15. Taking him over Williams isn't exactly an endorsement is it? I can't believe we're honestly debating about Micah fucking Richards. He's got failed potential written all over him.
  16. Directv has special coverage for this so I'm fairly certain between them and the ESPN coverage you can watch it live from first shot, but then there is coverage on whichever local broadcast corp affiliate is carrying it usually starting at 330 EST. Not sure if that's there for the first two rounds though but definitely for Saturday and Sunday. The market for Golf has gotten considerably larger here than it was when I was a child but it's still not near as big as it is overseas from what I understand. The Masters is by far the most heavily covered golfing event of the year for us though.
  17. Goes without saying really. A wall of text is not the best way to get readers. Personally it doesn't matter as I've read all the write-ups but I feel that most won't and so the teams as they are with the tagged text afterward is better in the long run. Edit - should've known it was you who picked Pellegrini as Manager. I like the strike partnership but the midfield is iffy.
  18. I voted. I didn't post why I voted the way I did. I'll probably continue to vote and not post why. On this though I did vote that I come here to discuss LFC and not la liga, because I do.
  19. Thanks. Went to their site and it's down for maintenance but I'll check back in later. I've been looking at quite a few other brands. Really I just want something with a good volume of vapor. That was the main downfall of the tobacco shop ones I've used, just not enough volume on the inhale/exhale, also I found they died fast an while I knew where to get them the shop closes early.
  20. Agree with the others who say it looks like he's referring to the city, that said why does anyone give a shit if he means the club? Like him or not, want him back or not, the man obviously loves Liverpool FC and the City of Liverpool. If his personal ambition is to one day manage this club again then so be it. Either he'll prove himself the best candidate available for the owners and return or he won't. I'm sure there's a few who would actively root against him but the majority would give him time just as right now there are a majority who're more than willing to give Rodgers time and a few who can't stand him. There's a saying I've heard many times, I'm sure most have heard it too or something similar. It goes "Show me the most amazing woman you can find and I'll show you a man who's tired of her shit". Same with managers (loads of things really), we could get someone like Klopp or Guardiola and if the results didn't match the hype there would be people calling for his head within the season.
  21. This. I've not said anything on either Thatcher thread because being American I don't feel it's my place to condone or condemn how you lot feel about this woman. That said, Her opinions on hillsborough and that of her cabinet were fucking terrible and as a Liverpool supporter who (albeit unaffected personally) understands that situation I can't believe someone would suggest that. The initial tragedy was sad enough, but to have the police and Government then basically tell the families "it was their fault" is sickening. You can't separate the disaster from the cover-up that followed, the two go hand in hand unfortunately. It didn't have to be that way and had more been done back then to stop the lies then maybe she wouldn't be as hated in Liverpool (though I doubt it from everything I've learned on this thread and GF one), but she didn't do a fucking thing but rub salt in the wound and that IS unforgivable.
