XMF - Arguing over ex Managers Forum

I think we’ve had enough time to reflect on the tremendous work that Benitez did across the park. Let’s use this thread to remember some of the great moments he oversaw. Obviously the derby at the pit is the first one that springs to mind but it was absolute mayhem there for a while. Everton fans uncharacteristically booing all the time, Rafa sacking the DoF and the medical staff before getting booted himself, selling Digne to Steven Gerrard as well. That’s before I even get onto the results on the pitch. Man, there was loads of comedy crammed into those six months and he very nearly got the job done.

The more i think about it getting rid of roy evans was a mistake.By the time houllier was done we were even further away from winning the premiership and he did have a vindictive agenda against robbie fowler.Surely im not the only one who feels this way.

So how great a manager was he? I am fortunate to have seen most of the games he played for us as a player, and many of the games he managed. His status as an LFC icon for everything he has contributed to the club is indisputable, but as a manager, where does he fit in? His roll call of honours won is staggering: Football League First Division (3): 1985–86, 1987–88, 1989–90 FA Cup (2): 1985–86, 1988–89 League Cup (1): 2011–12 Super Cup (1): 1985–86 FA Charity Shield (4): 1986,[87] 1988,[88] 1989,[89] 1990[90] Yet through no fault of his own, he was never able to test himself against the best of Europe, nor did he have the distraction of European fo…

Will any Liverpool manager ever break Rafa's Premier League points record of 86? Is there anyone out there who can replace him as this club's greatest manager of the modern era?

I've always been a fan, I had Napoli posters on my wall when I was a youngster. Now they're managed by the greatest manager in world football at the moment, it's about time they were given a thread of their own. Their old manager, whose name escapes me, put together a team that finished second last year. I'm rubbing my hands together at the prospect of them winning the Champions League this year. I see them lining up a bit like this. GK. Reina (washed up Spaniard) LB. Some Italian bloke RB. Some Italian bloke CB. Albiol (washed up Spaniard) CB. Skrtel (shit against Oldham) RM. Some Italian bloke LM. Some Italian bloke CM. Hamsik (shit haircut) CM. Some I…

With the release of the fixture list two weeks ago, I think it's plausible that you can confidently predict when the current occupant will be discarded and the move to bring Rafael Benitez home will be made. AUGUST 17 Stoke City (H) 24 Aston Villa (A) 28 Capital One Cup second round 31 Manchester United (H) SEPTEMBER 14 Swansea City (A) 21 Southampton (H) 25 Capital One Cup third round 28 Sunderland (A) OCTOBER 5 Crystal Palace (H) 19 Newcastle United (A) 26 West Bromwich Albion (H) NOVEMBER 2 Arsenal (A) 9 Fulham (H) 23 Everton (A) 30 Hull City (A) DECEMBER 3 Norwich City 7 West Ham (H) 14 Tottenham Hotspur (A) 21 Ca…
