  1. I am having my first in December, can't wait, am in particular looking forward to kitting it out as and bringing it up as a good red!
  2. I see this as good news, when they were struggling last season more often than not it was him that popped up to get a goal for them, I think they will struggle to replace him and I think they need to replace players right across the squad, as has already been mentioned Giggs, Scholes and Neville are done, but there is also Hargreaves who will supposedly not play again, and they have a keeper who has at most a year left. I think they have plenty of signings to make and that £80m will not go far. We can also hope for further Veron or Nani types signings from Slur.
  3. Voted Blair by accident. Brown has always annoyed the hell out of me, after he thought that Blair had backed out of the 'pact' that he thought that he had with him he led a dirty campaign against him, 90% of anything leaked about Blair came from Brown or one of his cronies and now I am pleased to see him reaping what he sowed. In particular at the moment I think he is being more cringeworthy that Blair at his worst with his youtube video and his constant appearances on GMTV, it really got on my nerves that he found time to call Piers Morgan and Cowell to ask how that reality woman was doing, he has better things to be doing with his time. If Labour have any chance to win the next election he needs to step down now, give someone a year to pick up the pieces and give the party a shot, otherwise it will be a landslide to the Tories. In terms of Blair, I actually think that history will be kind to him, he made one absolute shocker and got Iraq absolutely wrong but on other areas; NI, health, education etc... he did alright and I always got the impression from him, despite on occasion being more than a bit cringeworthy that he genuinely believed what he was saying and doing.
  4. Not a fan of the Queen or her kith and kin but the bottom line here is that she was forgotten as everyone else is falling over themselves to kiss Obama's ass/ The real tragedy is not that the Queen is not going but that instead of remembering what these brave men did and remembering those who died where they will be standing people will be talking about the Queen not being there and people will be trying to get a better pic with Obama. The memory of those soldiers deserves better and the whole lot of them should be ashamed.
  5. On the upside Villa fans must be cracking up, their best player leaves them for a team not even in Europe despite saying that he was desperate to play in the CL. I also do not think that this signing strengthens City, I was impressed with de Jong when we played them last season and Ireland was and I assume, given his new contract, will continue to be first choice centre mid for City, I think a centre mid of de Jong and Ireland is as good as Ireland and Barry. The one thing that Villa fans can console themselves with is that they got more than he is worth.
  6. The few times I have seen him play I thought he has looked a good technical player, good range of passing, quick but not lightening. I think he would be an improvement on Riera but I have a fear that he is too lightweight and just not quick enough. If he goes to Madrid and we got Robben I would be pleased as on his day I think he is unplayable, his biggest weakness as a footballer is how greedy he is, he gets into great positions and shoots rather than crossing and if we can get him to cross more we would have a great player. I do not know too much about Madrid but a mate of mine who lives out there reckons that there is going to be a cull this summer of almost all the Dutch players.
  7. In a heartbeat, maybe I am just being overly optimistic but I think Owen looked finished as he was in a poor Newcastle team. If he returns he will be used sparingly which will allow him to get fit and stay fit. I also think he will have the extra motivation of wanting to repay us for walking out on us and also proving to the world that he is not washed up.
  8. The thing that has sickened me this morning watching the news is that every song that the 'fans' were singing was aimed at us, that is it boys get all the way to a major final and sing no songs about your own team/players!! Obsessed!
  9. Just while I think of it, did anyone see Jonathon Aitken on BBC breakfast news this morning, what is the beeb coming to these days, they tend to give airtime to some absolute scum, first MacKenzie and now this bastard.
  10. I have more of an issue with the person who would want to buy that shit. I have a feeling that she will worm her way out of it with some talk of her record in representing her constituency. I will be sorry to see that as she is deplorable, her and the rest of her cronies that bleat on that they were within the rules are missing the point, they acted within the words but not the spirit of the rules, they are supposed to be honourable members and they have acted without honour, those that are found to have slipped should be deselected, those that are suspected of criminal activity should be tried. On the subject of decent women politicians I would venture Mo Mowlam, yes she made a few mistakes but I always thought she was decent and honest and carried on in parliament despite serious illness and Tony Blair trying to undermine her.
  11. When I seen this I thought that it was an elaborate practical joke, now I am just praying that it is!
  12. Pretty much agree, with the way that we play we do not want a 'world-class' striker who will complain about playing 2nd fiddle to Torres, I would welcome Owen back, I also would not be unhappy with Martins who could also be a good impact sub. I think our main priority has to be improving things on the flanks. We improved so much when we signed Riera and that was simply as we had proper width for the first time and that allowed Gerrard and Torres more room to play in, if we had someone with a bit more pace on either the left or the right then we will push on again. I was really hopeful that we were going to get Lennon as part of the Keane deal as I think his pace would be a great outlet on the right for us, that could then free Dirk up to be our back up striker.
  13. Also liked the last episode, it pulled the whole thing together, have rewatched all three and the first part is still shit. Dr Who frustrates the hell out of me as it promises so much and there is the occasional decent episode but it is being made for the teenage girl more and more. When the replaced Tennant I was hoping for someone like a Bill Nighy to take over and make the whole thing a little darker but I knew that they were going to go for a Tennant clone.
  14. I also feel sorry for Hughes, I think that club is doomed to be a Newcastle type soap opera for the next few years, they have already given themselves the title world's richest club and are making noises about the success that they will effectively buy but for the most part the players there appear to think that the job is done. Hughes will be out of a job in the summer and I would expect to see a foreign coach go in, maybe Mancini, maybe Scolari. With all that said I expect them to raise their game against the scum and I expect them to beat them.
  15. Was so disappointed, am still living in hope that the third ep redeems it tonight but I doubt it.
  16. I thought the coverage was fantastic, especially the chat between Aldo and Hansen, it was clear how it had affected them and they mentioned, most importantly I think, that justice has not been done.
  17. Agreed mate, watched the tributes and reread some articles about the tragedy and just wept, I still remember the day clearly, it is hard to believe that it is 20 years ago.
  18. Apparantly they are going to add a second base pedal to the drum especially for this game, it will be class!
  19. I was in China when she died and the story was carried in the Chinese papers and my dad texted me to tell me that she was dead, I am not sure I have ever been more ashamed of him.
  20. I thought it was pathetic, but was what worse is that they still barely made a noise, was so proud standing down in the main stand of the comparative noise that our boys made and was joining in must to the annoyance of those around me.
  21. He looked really quick, in fact I think when he came on he surprised O'Shea with how quick he was.
  22. I agree to an extent, I thought he gave a few niggly decisions against Masch that I did not think were fouls but I thought for the most part he was even handed.
  23. What a day, what a game! Am just home, managed to net our corporate tickets and there were a fair amount of us in there and had a great time gently (did not want to get kicked out or battered) winding up the mancs around me, the comment that got the biggest reaction was inviting everyone around me to look at how empty the Stretford End was with 10 mins to go. Then came out and gave an interview to Sky so I hope I don't come across as a tit but he was trying to suggest that our character and performance was unexpected and I hope I put him right - If anyone sees a video of me (Biggish bloke, Irish accent, brown jumper in the car park outside old toilet I would be grateful if you could send it to me - and if I came across badly I blame the beers!!) The bottom line is two matches in a row, front to back we have battered two very good sides, we are still in this, believe!
  24. I listened to 5 live before the game last night and Lawrenson was slagging Rafa off saying that he is class half full and that he would order the team to defend and that it would be a dull game, he must have been sick! I seen the comments of Thommo this morning on Sky Sports News, that is the type of passion that I want to see from ex-players, Aldo is the same, as are others like AK and I guess Jocky as well, I just try not to listen to Lawrenson or Beglin any longer!!
