Weekly transfer rumour round up

Liverpool have been linked with summer moves for numerous players over the past seven days, from goalkeepers to centre forwards to, erm James Milner.

Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes is rumoured to be interesting both Liverpool and Manchester City after apparently instructing his agent to sound out Premier League clubs. Hmmm, really? A 30 something on big wages, and where would that leave Simon Mignolet?

Another Barcelona star said to be on Brendan Rodgers' radar is forward Bojan Krkic, who has spent this season on loan at Ajax, not really doing a great deal. The 23 year old is also rumoured to be attracting interest from Spurs, no doubt after they read about LFC's interest.

Other reports have Arsenal set to battle Liverpool for the signature of £25m rated Real Madrid star Karim Benzema. Not sure he'd be too happy about backing up Suarez and Sturridge, but he can fill the place vacated on the subs bench by Iago Aspas I guess.

Sevilla centre back Federico Fazio continues to be linked with a move to Merseyside, with Everton said to be rivalling the Reds for the 26 year old Argentinian. Sevilla's financial problems have seen them forced to sell Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas and Gary Medel last summer, and Fazio is said to have a buy out clause of £7.5m.  Fazio is 6ft 5in and could add much needed height and physicality to a Liverpool backline that perennially struggles against big units.

Staying in Spain, Malaga's defensive midfielder Ignacio Camacho is another said to be on Rodgers' summer shopping list. The 23 year old has been a regular for Spain's youth and under 21 sides but is yet to feature for the full Spanish side.

Other speculation suggests the Reds are tracking THREE players from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. 21 year old Norwegian midfielder Valon Berisha was heavily linked with a January move to Anfield but that never materialised, and reports now claim Rodgers will make a move for him in the summer, along with two of his team-mates - 21 year old centre back Martin Hinteregger and 28 year old former Barcelona forward Jonathon Soriano who has his 31 goals in 27 appearances this season. Manchester United are said to be in for both Hinteregger and Soriano too.

Closer to home, James Milner and Gylfi Sigurdsson have been linked with summer moves to the Reds, as has Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna who according to reports in Italy is rumoured to have received a 'very lucrative offer' to move to Anfield and is out of contract this summer. Inter fancy their chances of landing him too, apparently.

The Sagna one seems far fetched too.  Some Italian fella is adamant we've made Sagna a big offer, but he's a year older than Johnson and we're not thrilled about the wages he's on, so why would we offer the same kind of money to Sagna?

I'd rather keep Johnson than do that.  Wouldn't touch Benzema with a barge pole either to be honest, far better to spend £25m on someone we actually need.

Sigurdsson would be a good option for us, he'd do well in Brendan's midfield as we're lacking depth.  The problem is Spurs gave him 70k a week and he's not worth anything like that, so unless they want to pay him 20k whilst we give him 50k then that looks like a non-starter too.

Skrtel and Agger out would leave us with kolo, illori and sakho for the cb spots.Id loan Illori out for season to Granada where he is starting, bring micah Richards in as cover for cb and rb and sign another top cb to partner sakho.

Another lb is needed for competition for Enrique and Id take Mvilla for the dm spot.We then need another wide player and atleast one forward, id take a risk on bojan if it was a low fee as he has the potential and is used to playing the kind of football we do.

Im hoping for a big investment in the summer so we can have a squad able to compete with the rest but I am also aware we have a lot of players contracts who need looking at so am not sure what to expect.

I think we will need another striker even if Suarez stays.  If we get in the CL then we are going to have a shitload of more games.  We have had those two out with injuries even with the few games we've had this season.

At first glance Benzema looks like a great option especially at 25M.  I think there would be all sorts of problems with it though.  When players like that leave clubs like Madrid it's because they are on a downward curve.  On top of that you are getting a player who has played for Madrid through his peak years.  If he comes here he will probably think he's above the club.  If he has a bad start there would be no turning it round.

The Red Bull Salzburg link is interesting. Was very surprised looking at the Europa League results last week & noticing that RBS won all 6 of their league matches & took Ajax's pants down at home 3-0 last week. Can't remember a decent Austrian club side since Krankl's lot lost to our noisy neighbours in 85.

Soriano would be a brilliant back up for Suarez and Sturridge. Never really understood why a prolific goalscorer like him hasn't been at a proper top club. Yes, he was at Barcelona, but he only played for their B side.

Regarding Berisha I really don't see the point as we have better players in the squad already (including youth players). Never understood the hype about him here in Norway.

I would rather we get a youngish ready to hit the big time striker, rather than a capable back up.  I'd sell Aspas and Borini back to their respective countries to help fund it too.  Not sure who that striker is though!

You never know with Madrid but we would have no chance getting isco, man city would be all over him.

So maybe we are just getting the price up in case they do go for it

FFP and all that.
