  1. It will probably come down to who pays him more.
  2. His remit this season was to keep Wigan up - achieved. Kenny's remit - top 4 - failed. Ferguson's remit - win the league - failed. Wenger - failed. You should be catching my drift by now, he achieved his goal, he took a team shit enough to concede 60 goals to safety, a team built with no namers from all parts of the globe for pittance. Everyone can see that is success for Wigan. If you can't see past your needless agenda driven bullshit then you're a sad cunt.
  3. Then hate the people suggesting it. He didn't link himself with our club and as far as I know has never said anything negative about LFC, quite the opposite in fact. The job he's done at Wigan deserves credit and would justify a move to a bigger club, if that works out then he would be an ideal candidate for a bigger club again. If we finish 7th or 8th next year then he would a credible candidate for a midtable club, which we would be.
  4. Don't get the hate for him. Seems like a decent bloke. He's ready for the next level which is midtable mediocrity, if we're looking for a manager this time next year then that will be us.
  5. I laughed when City blew it, I laughed even louder when they clutched right from those cunts hands. Michael Owen's face is priceless
  6. Away from home this season every time the home side opened the scoring they won,we managed to score a paltry 2 goals in those games. At this stage I'm ambivalent to change of management.
  7. What a shithouse statement to make. Dirk will be remembered (by those that aren't cunts) as a 3rd tier legend with the likes of Sami, Xabi and Didi, always to be welcomed back with open arms.
  8. I'd agree with this. Definite signs of hope but we're no where near cracking open the champers. If a £20m bid came in the morning I'd probably accept it, where as last month I'd have accepted £10m for him.
  9. I was channel flicking and didn't realise I was watching the last episode of a series I may want to see. Unfortunate more than mental.
  10. I asked a specific question. If my question was about Jordan Henderson, Rafa Benitez, Christian Purslow, Stuart Downing, Andy Carroll, Pepe Reina, Fernando Torres, Roy Hodgson, Kloop, AVB, or Tarts I would have stuck it that thread.
  11. Is English your first language because that's not what I said or implied. I asked a genuine question (which so far only "Kenny's spell" has made an attempt at answering) that will be asked next week. I never implied Kenny would lie to keep his job, in fact I said the opposite and I never said he should be sacked. I don't want Kenny sacked and I don't think he will be, I just think he's got a tough week coming up.
  12. By this time next week Kenny will have or will be about to sit down with Henry and Co and asked to explain this season. The most obvious question is why did we finish 8th? With Kenny being a man who speaks the truth but also wants to keep his job, what answer does he give? The most obvious answer would be "bad luck" but if my employee was offering no better than "bad luck" as an excuse he would be heading to the job center.
  13. I think I went and ruined this by only watching the last episode. Is there any point in going back and watching it all or was it all leading to that finale last night? BTW I didn't watch it all, had the will power to turn it off with about 20 left.
  14. I hate that cunt with a passion but I've never seen him field a side that didn't try. Not a comment you could make about our team this season.
  15. I agree we're miles away from winning the league but not so far from coming 4th. Our shitness this season has masked the shitness of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, their fans will be on their forums contemplating mass suicide too, UTD fans have reason to be concerned too. IMO we really aren't that far behind them, they're shit too. If RVP goes to City then that sends City further down the road but brings Arsenal right back into the pack with Spurs and ourselves for 1 spot, when the dust settles and sun comes out we'll be able to look at this from a more positive point of view. We all want to win the league but to get there we need a manager who can get us 4th first. If we can build towards 4th then CL money leads to 3rd/2nd/1st, there is no other way. You started with a big long post about managers when basically you should've said "I want Arab owners and I want them now", that's a depressing state of mind have.
  16. Raneri had the first batch of money and bought many of the foundations of the Chelsea side that won the league (Lampard, Cech, Joe Cole, Duff, Makielle, Gallas, Robben), who's to say he wouldn't have won it himself with the money that was available the following summer? Grant got the CL final and came 2nd in the league despite being a puppet. Alan Pardew is strange one, after he got sacked from Southampton in strange circumstances he spent his time in Germany "retraining" himself. Normally I'd lump Pardew into the category with Phil Brown, Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce, but seeing as he made the effort to engage his brain elsewhere I think he deserves some credit. He has certainly been impressive (although sometimes coming across as a smug cunt) in how he has handled himself this season, could be one to watch. On your last point, the modest budget I was referring too was circa £20m per season. I'm different to many on here in that I don't think we're as far down the slide as some may think. A managers job is to improve the team, a good one with £20m available each year should be able to do that.
  17. The example of Real Madrid and Chelsea is fundamentally flawed. They're proof that money is more valuable than managers. Great players can get by with Avrim Grant or Lawrie Sanchez managing them. The Man City team that will win the league would've won it or come very close with just about any of the current managers in the premier league, it's when you step down a level that managers really earn their money. If you're asking if a manager can get us out of the shit we're in with a modest budget then I'd say the right one could.
  18. I presume none of the posters wanting rid of Pepe can be found in the Alonso thread slating Rafa for wanting to sell him after a shit season. Reina has been poor this season but unfortunately we don't have enough good players to be getting rid of one of the few we do. If he wanted to leave then that's a different story, unlike Alonso, keepers are easier to replace and it seems there is a good crop of young keepers about. If we replaced him and had a surplus of £10m then I could live with that. Basle's keeper looks impressive.
  19. How fucking pathetic is it to be praising a lad for his commitment and passion in The FA Cup final? We've some cowards in our side.
  20. Any one who thinks FSG are preparing an exit strategy only needs to look at the figures in that blog. The opportunities for massive growth are everywhere, to sell the club now would be madness. You would basically be just selling the potential (for a small return) rather than doing the work yourself and owning a club worth £1b+ in 4 or 5 years.
  21. If we sell 1 player I hope it's Carroll. There are mitigating circumstances for the shitness of Henderson and Downing, mainly being they're fucking scared shitless to play in front of our fans, a couple of goals from each can sort that (unlikely but possible), I also think that they're useful squad players to have, just not good enough to be the players we depend on week in week out. Carroll I just have absolutely no hope for, he's just an expensive Big John Parkin. Kuyt is gone whether anyone wants him to stay or not so no point discussing him, Aurelio and Maxi are both free to walk as far as I know and obviously the shit we tried to wipe from our shoe in August will be off loaded if possible. I was of the opinion that Carra should be retired too but on reflection I'd rather him stay than have to spend money on essentially a 4th choice centre back when we have so many other positions in a worse state. Sell Carroll, Kuyt, Cole and Aquilani and replace with 4 attacking players, at least 2 of which must be fast.
  22. How do the FA go about appointing their chairmen? Is it just the poshest Tory they can find who's been to a football match? Putting the laughing on hold for 2 minutes, why offer a 4 year contract when the owl would snap your hand off for 2? Makes zero sense and its us that will pay for it with our £115 cup final tickets. Back to laughing now, oh how I'll laugh when he picks Danny Murphy and Paul Konchesky.
