  1. We can't get him to make a cup of tea in January, but we'll monitor him with a view to getting him to make a brew in the summer, at which point we won't want one.
  2. I'd settle for someone who can score against Plymouth.
  3. That's what I was afraid of, I was wondering if he was pushing his prominence with the alternative media and it'd slipped past me, but it sounds like he's just choosing the wrong battles. If ever there was a chance to move the debate to more neutral ground, then this is it. As irksome as it's been, the rise of the alt-right in American and the tactics used have shown that you can gain huge traction away from the mainstream media, and swathes of people are hungry for an alternative perspective; whether it's true or not.
  4. I enjoyed it, but the title was a bit misleading - with regards to film violence, it's tame, and in chronological terms it's mainly centred around a few days. I guess "A Mildly Violent Few Days" wouldn't draw much attention. I like Isaac though, and I appreciated that it was a period film that didn't fill a soundtrack with endless clichéd tunes of the era. My only issue was the symbolism in the final confrontation, it was too heavy handed.
  5. Out of interest, which media outlets do you think he should be objectively scrutinised by? Are there any alternative outlets that are doing so, that he engages with regularly? I'm not particularly familiar with the alternative media.
  6. I always liked the fact that Callahan's still got a mouthful of hotdog as the iconic bank robbery scene unfolds in Dirty Harry. He even sprays it when he shouts "Halt".
  7. I grab one cheek and adjust the tone like my own wah-wah pedal.
  8. I'm sure we can beat the competition we'll face for his signature from the Cambodian Women's Post Office second XI. #BringHimHome
  9. He didn't put out a full strength side because he's tasked with not only winning games but also developing young talent and avoiding injuries to key players. Much like the old adage about F1 being about winning in the slowest possible time, football - for any club that isn't financially doping - is about winning with the least amount of injuries, the most game time for young talent and the least money spent. The side we put out against Plymouth should've been able to win, but for some reason they all crossed the ball like they were playing a giant version of pitch and putt. Even Stewart Downing would've been sat at home shaking his head.
  10. I bet James Pearce is bored to death, and spends his days playing Football Manager and then tweeting himself that he's baffled by links to world class players.
  11. If you're having trouble then play Medic and stick to where others in your squad are. The beauty of Medic is you can mop up a few kills, get loads of points for healing / reviving and can heal yourself. I'm shit at sniping and up close, so I find a weapon that works for medium range and has low recoil works best for me, something like the Autoloading Extended for Medic - it'll take a couple more shots to kill someone, but you can basically just hammer the trigger as fast as you like.
  12. I'm in, I'll ping my list over later. Do we still get extra points if no one else has the same pick?
  13. Favourite thread: Funny pictures / Polo Shirts (even if it is filled with the odd wrong 'un who does the top button up) Least favourite thread(s): The Corbyn one turned a bit too sour and tribal for my liking. Favourite post: It's a tie between Cloggy's Hungry Hippos jibe about Neville Southall and TK's "Because he was arrogant rebel scum". Favourite poster(s): the Rev for his serenity, Cloggy for shit jokes, JP for insanity, and loads more. Best flounce: JP's, as it was the climax to what felt like a trilogy of flounces. Most missed poster: SugarApe (or JP) Poster you'd most like to buy a drink: mark coulter, as I reckon he's probably the opposite of his forum persona and dead happy. Best find from a recommendation on here: I'm pretty sure I only started to listen to Bon Iver because someone posted something here.
  14. Finished this a week or so ago. I think I found it more interesting to see how it differed from the film than anything, but Pistone's writing actually started to grate after a while. It was weird, but perhaps showed the schism in his character - half detail and facts and half bluff and bravado. It's amazing that he wasn't rumbled, as the wiseguys did a real half arsed job checking him out.
  15. I've just been ripping a bunch of old CDs to FLAC, and the last album in this pile was The Queen Is Dead. I've taken this as a sure sign she's a goner.
  16. Bit of a weird game really. It looked like we dropped off because we were expecting an onslaught from City that simply never arrived, and the whole tempo of the game went to shit. Once it became clear that letting them have the ball wasn't a great threat we seemed to focus just on the space itself and they had no answers for it. Ordinarily I'd say it looked a bit like a 0-0 stalemate that one side pinched, but here the onus was on City to do something, and when they weren't challenged to work their way out they tried longer passes and the space for the wide players wasn't there. I've watched City a few times this season, and it seems as if Guardiola is telling them to maintain composure, but that often manifests itself in lethargic passing and a lack of urgency.
  17. He's been very impressive recently, doing all the small things exceptionally well, but let's not rewrite history, early in the season he was often suspect in terms of his positioning for a CM and as much of a goal threat as Joe Allen in a derby. The last couple of months have shown a marked improvement, and long may it continue.
  18. Honestly, for me, a dog proved a better combat against the kind of feelings you've described than anything else. Any time I get down now, I just take my dogs for a long walk and usually by the end of it things don't seem so bad. Other than having to pick up their shit.
  19. Have you got a dog? If not, get a dog.
  20. The really clever part is when they're available in the summer... and we say we've moved onto other targets.
