Iv'e got a Minix Neo U1 had it for about six weeks runs kodi fine no problem with the added bonus of Android you can buy cheaper as already said above but when you got a problem with your cheap box who do you go to for support Minix have there own forum with plenty of help and support they have even developed there own version of XBMC Minix which works fine and exactly the same as kodi

Also you could download a copy of ubuntu put the disc image on a usb boot from usb then look for a programme called disks format from there or another look for gparted format from there
