  1. "We'll be fine, we're way too good to go down." In all seriousness, it's far too early to be talking about relegation. We're not far off the top 4 points-wise - not saying we'll get it or that it's acceptable to be that far back already, but it shows how compressed the league still is while it's in it's infancy. Of more concern is the manager, and the attitude of the squad. In my opinion, it seems like everyone is looking to the RBS deadline. The players are waiting to see if fresh interest in the club will be drummed up and if we're therefore capable of going anywhere in the immediate term. We're in limbo, and the manager doesn't have the personality or the gravitas to be able to focus them. When he's lacking in tactical ideas as well, we've got some problems.
  2. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I flicked over to final score on the red button at about 5ish, and was just in time to see the BBC do some coverage of the after-game protest. After some cursory noises from Gabby Logan, the shitbag Claridge decides to act all "I'm playing devil's advocate here", then proceeded to talk about other clubs having debt - "even Abramovich says he won't be spending much", Benitez wasting a lot of good money on shite and that the owners mightn't have been so absolutely fucking disastrous. He wasn't playing devil's advocate at all because he looked to me like he believed what he was saying. In fairness to Martin Keown, he said a few words back (didn't exactly launch an impassioned defence like). Makes me seethe to think fucking no-marks like Claridge get a soapbox to air their ridiculous views to a wider audience. I know he's an idiot, I know he should be ignored but just as a smile came on my face that we were getting some coverage that prick has to miss the point completely. He's a fucking mong.
  3. Was reading today that in Wenger's time at Arsenal, they've had more red cards than all bar 2 teams. And yet he still moans about physicality. Myopic twat.
  4. He is. But Wiese makes it sound like a bad thing. When I first saw this thread I thought he'd said Jenas. After one game in the opposing goal, I'd have been impressed with his judgement!
  5. They've never shown any kind of understanding of the supporters, so I doubt they'd have the nuance to be able to pull off a trick like this.
  6. That's a fucking good point that. Good luck to Ged, except in the obvious games. He fell short of the standard we aspire to, and made a bit of a mess with Robbie. But I've never doubted his genuine love and affection for the club and the city.
  7. I wouldn't go out of my way to read up this story. But coming across it on the forum, I must say, it's all rather amusing.
  8. The cheque's probably going to get lost in the post as well, Madrid should be prepared. Everything seems to be coming up roses for Spurs at the moment. I want normal service back.
  9. Arsenal do this every season. Start really well, batter teams left right and centre. Have the media talking about silk and steel, boys becoming men and a fuckload of other cliches. Then they'll have a couple of big ties in one month against rivals and they'll lose pathetically, before the infighting starts, key players get injured, they'll implode against some bruisers in a grim northern town and the inevitable Fabregas to Barcelona rumours start again. Wenger will then start looking for a goalkeeper, before freaking out because he doesn't fit into his art project. The Arsenal Season. As predictable as the X factor.
  10. They're utterly convinced that the whole nation gathers round their televisions, in a style reminiscent of the wedding of Charles and Diana, to watch Jeff Stelling and his merry pals and their hilarious antics on Soccer Saturday. We'll pay anything to keep that tradition happening.
  11. One thing that gives me hope: we may have been shite - abysmal in fact. But maybe we're all thinking back to Rafa. A shocking performance was always compounded by the fact that the same mistakes were made repeatedly. I sincerely hope Roy's learned from what he saw, and what he didn't see.
  12. Normally, I'd agree. But it's pretty uncomfortable watching Mike Phelan snivel his way through a post-match interview in his absence. The BBC should simply not show any interviews with any of their staff.
  13. Laughing my head off watching him on Match of the Day. Terry really does think he's some sort of hard man enforcer, doesn't he? He's a fucking tit.
  14. N'Zogbia went up a bit in my estimations, there.
  15. Ha! I've got some ridiculous aversions like that. My phone broke and my Mrs offered me her old phone til it could be repaired. It was a Samsung so I went without for a couple of weeks! Still associate Vodafone with the mancs even though they've nothing to do with them anymore as well.
  16. He looks like a twat. But I stand by my lifelong sentiments. Michael Winner is also a twat. There can be more than one person on the twat list - it's why it's a list.

Point taken. I ain't listening - I just find it amusing that they've changed their mind so much. I prefer Gerrard behind the striker to be honest, but we've other options in that position with fewer options in centre mid. And playing Gerrard as a central midfielder isn't exactly him "doing a job" - he's still one of the best in the league in that position.

We've had years of the media telling us Gerrard's best in the centre, when we used him on the right, and off Torres. He's had one game for England off Rooney and everyone in the media is telling us that Roy's now using him wrong by playing him in the middle, his natural position is off the striker. Set of bastards.
