  1. wankers have always wanted parity and now they've got it. enjoy the red tape (fucking RED tape!).
  2. I think there is a difference between cause and effect when considering the Rafa Rinus Michels comparison. Kenny Dalglish probably had us playing more like that classic Ajax team than anybody else has (in the 87-88 season) but I doubt he deliberately decided to copy them; it just fitted in with how he thought the game should be played and how he played it. That might have been solely in his nature or it could have been part of the Liverpool culture of pass and move that owed a lot to the 5-1 thumping we got under Shanks against Ajax. The fact that his players operated within an established system of organisation, strategy and tactics didn't hurt either. Rafa is a different personality to Dalglish and perhaps it doesn't come naturally to him to 'feel' the Michel's philosophy but he rationalises and works to implement it - the artisan to artist; the Keegan to the Dalglish. Rafa did not inherit a healthy set up and he is changing it from the floor up. I agree with some of Rashid's comments but the criticism of Rafa seems to be that he is not a 'natural' and that he is not Wenger. I believe that after 10 years at Liverpool Rafa's record will compare very nicely to Wenger's, despite working under intolerable conditions: Wenger's much praised youth system (ie nicking them from other clubs when they start to look good) wouldn't have stood a chance if he'd had to work with Parry - FFS they'd still be negotiating to bring Henry over from Italy.
  3. That reads like sombody's Sports Science dissertation, Coop! Excellent read and definitely more than one sitting required
  4. Just got this email from LFC Info, looks like Parry is still involved in the ticket office: Liverpool FC V Reading Carling Cup 3rd Round Tickets‏ From: LFC Info (lfcinfo@liverpoolfc.tv) Sent: 02 August 2008 13:26:47 To: LFC Info (lfcinfo@liverpoolfc.tv) LIVERPOOL FC V READING TICKETS ON GENERAL SALE NOW Carling Cup at Anfield 25 Oct 2006 20:00 Fancard holders can buy online now
  5. I like him but he's behaved like a tosser from start to (what looks like) finish, and still hasn't apologised for his comments about Rafa leaking the story to the media. He's handled Garry Barry's situation very badly and now has a very unhappy player on his hands. It would seem that he thought he could con Liverpool into paying over the odds (believing Parry still has autonomy over deals?), and had actually taken it for granted that he would move Barry on and not have a disaffected player on his hands. He's apparently an intelligent man but there's no evidence of that in these dealings. And yes, he squeals like a little piggy when he doesn't get his own way.
  6. Every season I'm determined not to get too optimistic and someone always spoils it by conjuring up exciting possibilities!
  7. Hmm, price was probably 11.81m BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Everton | Everton bid for Moutinho rejected
  8. It was the best thing to happen to us - the moment when we reached the summit and made the most of all the commercial benefits and strengthened the club immensely. If it wasn't for 2005, we wouldn't have had the launching pad that led us to the league title last year. oh wait, that's Bizarro World where Parry stayed with the Premier League and Moores carried on running/ ruining his record label and other ventures.
  9. I'd hate to see him at another English club, he's been totally dedicated to the club and the fans. That and the possibility he would thrive at Arsenal and come back to haunt us
  10. Arteta's on his way after his beverage blunder and a replacement is lined up. He just has to pass the medical... BBC SPORT | Football | Gossip | Tuesday's gossip column Everton remain keen on £16m Joao Moutinho despite the midfielder's club Sporting Lisbon insisting he is not for sale. (Daily Mirror)
  11. wake up Rafa! This is the summer fun-run season - if you'd been more alert you could have had us all jogging round our local parks raising money to buy Silva for the 10 million more than you tried to buy him for 2 years ago. Lazy lazy man
  12. There might even be considerable 'shrinkage' on the transfer fee
  13. Yes there is mate, but it just invoves offering money for a club and then that money ending up in the seller's account. Any other 'fit and proper' test is bollox
  14. Bazzao! not a lot of change there then
