1. Evra claims he told the ref that he was called "a fucking nigger". Dirk has stated that he heard Evra tell the ref that "you only book me because I'm black", but Marriner has denied this. Marriner is quoted in the rapport to have said in to Ferguson after the match, when the racism-claim was made: "Oh, so that's what you talked about during the match" (or something like that, can't remember the exact words.
2. Don't forget that Evra was "in a state of shock" because he was fouled in an already "damaged knee". And that Suarez' story is not reliable because he said he pinched Evra in the arm to calm the situation down. Yep, the rapport says so.
3. They have no video evidence, but Dirk stated that Suarez used the word "negro" once. Luis also said he used the word "negro", but not in a offensive way. Nonetheless, FA says that they believe Evra, and that they find it proved that Suarez said: (1) In response to Mr Evra's question "Concha de tu hermana, porque me diste in golpe" ("Fucking hell, why did you kick me"), Mr Suarez said "Porque tu eres negro" ("Because you are black"). (2) In response to Mr Evra's comment "Habla otra vez asi, te voy a dar una porrada" ("say it to me again, I'm going to punch you"), Mr Suarez said "No hablo con los negros" ("I don't speak to blacks"). (3) In response to Mr Evra's comment "Ahora te voy a dar realmente una porrada" ("okay, now I think I'm going to punch you"), Mr Suarez said "Dale, negro, negro, negro" ("okay, blackie, blackie, blackie). 98 (4) When the referee blew his whistle to stop the corner being taken, Mr Suarez used the word "negro" to Mr Evra. (5) After the referee had spoken to the players for a second time, and Mr Evra had said that he did not want Mr Suarez to touch him, Mr Suarez said "Por que, negro?". Basically, they say that they believe everything Evra, naming him "a very impressive witness".
4. He has never been quick, but take a look at him last year and now. The difference is scary. The guy was a lot more mobile then. What the hell do we do in training?
5. I seem to remember a story from last season about how surprised our staff was when they found out that Caroll had a lack of upper body strength. I guess we have put the lad on the weights, and boom - there went his speed and agilty.
6. ...why the hateful tone? It's Jamie Carragher we're talking about, not El Hadji Diouf.
7. The biggest trouble with Carra in the side, is that it's easy for opposition sides to break up our attacking play: Put Carra under pressure and you will sooner or later win the ball in danger zones or get throw ins when Carra smacks it up in the terraces. Especially when the right back isn't to keen to provide an option, like Flanagan against Sunderland or Skrtel yesterday. Stoke had obviously singled out Carra and Adam, and put them under pressure. They benefited from it, as Carra played too many long punts upfield and Adam lost the ball too many times during build up. Carra is still a very good defender though.
8. Some recommandations: - Kris Kristofferson's stuff from the 70s. "Sunday Morning Coming Down" has to be one of the greatest songs ever written. - John Prines first couple of albums. "Sam Stone" and "Illegal smile" are great tracks. - David Allan Coe, if you can stand him as a person. He has done some really good stuff. Check out "Greener than the grass we laid on", "Jack Daniels if you please" and "Jody like a melody". - Waylon Jennings was amazing. Fantastic voice and a terrific sound (listen to "Are you sure Hank done it this way") - Anything Gram Parsons did. From the International Submarine Band, to his work with the Byrds, to Flying Burrito Bros and his marvellous solo albums. - If you are into countryrock from the 70s, you can't get it wrong with Poco, Ozark Mountain Daredevils or New Riders of the Purple Sage. - Guy Clark wrote some absolute fantastic songs in the early 70s. "LA Freeway", "Desperadoes Waiting for a Train" and "Like a Coat from the Cold" stands out. - Lots of good stuff from the classics like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson. - Johnny Cash goes without saying. ....oh I and nearly forgot the fab Townes van Zandt. Welcome to the wonderful world of great country music (and stay away from Garth Brooks).

Elvis

I'm a big fan of the King, and to be fair, he did'nt put on weight until the last couple of years. The way I see it, he was always capable of brilliance. Sun years: YouTube - Elvis Presley Mystery Train Pre-military RCA: YouTube - Elvis Presley - Baby let's play house (live '56) The pop years in the 60s: The 68 comeback: YouTube - Elvis Presley - Trying To Get To You Vegas years: Aloha from Hawaii: YouTube - Elvis Presley_ an american trilogy and...the last depressing swansong: YouTube - Unchained Melody - Elvis Presley - Live 1977 - last concert
10. Again: it's crazy to blame the goalkeeper for that goal. If you think that Maradona is a cool guy and Butcher/Shilton/rest of the 86 squad are bitter twats, fine with me. But blaming Shilton for letting it in - it's insane.
11. I don't know where to start.... 1) You claim that Shilton should have broke Maradona's jaw instead of going for the ball. Yeah, that would be smart, especially in the world cup following Schumacher's attack on Battiston. If Shilton had done that, he'd been sent off. 2) Shilton didn't jump straight up for the ball, because he came running from the line. And anyway, it's beside the point. He made the right decision, because if Maradona had not used his HAND, then Shilton would have knocked it away. 3) Clemence was a fine goalkeeper, but let's face it, the post-Liverpool Clem was not the Clem of the seventies. Shilton was impressive in the Forest/So'ton years. Remember - Clemence lost his place to Grobbelaar, and the season Grobbelaar became no 1, he was more errorproned than ever.
12. I can understand that Butcher is still bitter, I would be if I were a part of that team. And again, I think there is a difference between going down a bit easy to win a penalty, or bringing down someone to prevent a goal. That's part of the game. But hands?? that's just so LOW. IMO. And I find it bizarre to blame Shilton for the goal. Say what you want about him, but he was a class goalkeeper in 86 - better than Clemence at that time(not even in the squad) and he WOULD have saved it if Maradona had not used his HAND.
13. Why blame Shilton? As he has said himself, he's standing on the line when Hodge makes the bad clearance. Maradona comes in full flight, and Shilton decides he just might reach it. And guess what? He would have - if Maradona didn't cheat. I can see Butcher's point too. I don't shake hands with cheaters when I play for my pubteam, and if someone cheated against me in a world cup quarter final, I'd despise him for the rest of my life. And don't give me the "every footballer makes fouls - that's cheating too"; handballing is just plain wrong. It's just not part of the game. Yeah, Maradona was great, but hey: he drugged himself in shape for years, and the love he is getting now is ridicilous. Maradona vs Pele is like Lennon vs McCartney. Everybody loves Lennon, but McCartney is obviously the superior composer.
14. I am a HUGE Elvis-fan. He put out a lot of really bad albums, but when he was great, he sure was fantastic. Unlike many, I find his so-called "Vegas-period" his best. Peter Guralnick's "Last Train from Memphis" and "Careless Love" are the best books about him. Elvis best songs, imo: 1. Suspicious Minds 2. An American Trilogy 3. Burning Love 4. Hound Dog 5. Mystery Train And besides: This is coo: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/graphics/2008/04/11/elvis2.jpg
15. YouTube - Elvis Presley_ an american trilogy 3:23 into the song, when the King shouts to the orchestra, before turning to the audience. Pure magic.
16. Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley Two Headed Dog - Roky Erickson Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan Martha - Tom Waits Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen
17. Bjorn Daehlie nearly killing himself while winning the 50 km cross country skiing, Nagano 1998 winter olympics. SxtRKM0sex0 The last km of the last lap in the 4 x 10 km relay, Winter World Championship 1982, widely regarded as the most ruthless race ever, between Norwegian Oddvar Braa and Russian Alexey Zavialov. nBr9uQG52a0
18. Tricky one. "Boris beivva", would be an appropriate start.
19. Bogart in The Maltese Falcon - the stuff that dreams are made of Clark Gable in Gone With the Wind, doesn't give a damn YouTube - Clark Gable Classics
20. Early Rod Stewart was great stuff...Gasolin Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story and An Old Raincoat Won't Let You Down were all terrific albums. And Creedence Clearwater Revival - what the fuck? Probably the greatest countryrock come swamp/blues-band ever, and nothing to be ashamed of. My guilty pleasures are: "Country Bumpkin" - Cal Smith "99 Luftballoons" - Nena "One of Us" - Joan Osborne "Silly Love Songs" - Paul McCartney
21. Sorry, didn't want to doublepost, just didn't read all 23 pages in that thread.
22. Major League Baseball: Media Player Sorry, don't know if I've done the linking properly. But, anyway: Look at the interview from 10:25: "People worry that I might take money away from the Rangers to go to Liverpool, but it's just the reverse. Liverpool's gonna throw off a lot extra money, if I choose to, I could use for the Rangers". This is getting more and more depressing.
