The only requirements to apply as an Army Officer over here is 2 A levels, it just slows down your intial promotions upto Captain down a while when compared to a graduate. When I was a 16 year old little scrot I applied to be an RAF pilot just to let my mum think I was arsed about what I did after school, by chance I went through the whole selection process for a university bursary, after all was done there was 3 of us left from 50, myself from Brookfield in Kirkby had placed 2nd with one private schooler in front of me, I goes for the final interview with some bird, Squadron Leader Warnell (never forget that), I thought I did ok as did the Sgt who led me in, she proceeded to decline an gave me some excuse I wasn't listenint too, when I got outside the Sgt told me, I had the most potential of everyone but she hadn't forwarded no-one who hadn't been to at least public/grammar school in the 2 years she'd been conducting interviews. What they didn't know was that I let my uncle know this, who happened to be a very well known solicitor in Liverpool, who drafted them a letter to let them know what he thought and how he was having a friend of his from the MOD look into their selection process in Liverpool careers office, what followed was a host of Job offers and Dinner offers from Sqn Ldr Warnell and the RAF. I declined. For the record though the US Air Force are a lot worse, I have Quite a few mates who fly with them, top lads, one of them is a Puerto Rican called Armando, he is a English graduate with honours and has a civilian pilots licence of twin engine planes yet they won't let him fly their aircraft.
