So we're back out in Thailand on holiday. This big muthafukka was giving it the big "I am" when first we met, but he's changed his tune a little now. This might partly be due to the stuff I rob from brekky. The last few days it has been barbecued king prawns that I hide in a napkin, then dutifully peel and feed to him of an early evening. He's an absolute sweetheart. He's slowly learning that his "jaws of death" routine when I go to stroke his tummy is actually a bit painful for me. He's already being more affectionate when he does it now.

I'm guessing he's a distant relative of the other bunny rabbit I first had the privilege of meeting in early December...

And yes, she gets prawns too. Fortunately, the hotel dive school feeds her, so I'm happy she's being properly looked after.

My Furnando used to do that when I was at our house in Mexico. He would visit me at night on the roof top patio, and then walk all around my legs as I was walking back down the stairs to the house.

He used to jump up and open the bedroom door to sleep with me as well. The door needed to be closed because of mosquitoes.

Love that cat. He sleeps with me every night now.

Get Patch to a vet for a rabies shot and check over, and you've got a friend for life when you bring him back.

Dug up some old facebook pics of Furnando at our house in Mexico. He lived there for at least six months before we brought him to Canada (last pic in carrier)

Furnando looks like a top dude.

Indeed he is. Amazing purrsonality for a street cat from Mexico.

Here is our other Mexican street cat, Isabel, after being left in an empty flower pot outside of our neighbour's house. She is about three weeks old in the pic (b&w on the left)

Yeah, I know. Listen, I'd have 450 million cats and dogs, innumerable insects (many that I rescue from swimming pools), squirrels, injured birds, and, I could go on. Mr rb14 and I are so rarely in one place for any meaningful length of time, pets are just out of the question. Instead, we just have pets vicariously and simply reminisce about the countless lovely animals we've had the pleasure of crossing paths with over the years. With Patch, I've already given a local German fella some money to arrange for him (Patch, not the German fella) to have a trip to the vets for a once-over and major service: oil change, spark plugs, engine and gearbox oil, you know, the usual.

I have a mobile phone gallery replete with animals of every description.

So a quick update on Patch, the stray cat that hangs around the hotel grounds. After 24 hours absence, I found him. Saw him from 30m away and said "Bunny rabbit". He looked up and, I swear, ran over like a dog, bounding with joy. A major love-in later, he, erm, found his way back to our digs. We'd invited a couple of German fag-hags (they really weren't) around for dinner, and the five of us settled down to eat.

He stayed the night and kept me and Mr rb14 awake most of the time. At 7am, he wanted to be let out and I walked him back to where I usually find him. I had to tiptoe away otherwise he'd have followed me back again.

I'm a bit distraught now. We leave in the morning and I'm going to miss him like mad. I've left some money for a cat-loving member of staff to take him to the vets and get him wormed, have his skin issue dealt with, and get him spayed as well. There's a bit extra so that he can get regular treats.

He's been an absolute joy. *sniffs*
