  1. Up C Down C Left C Right C ABC Start.
  2. As I've said I'm yet to be convinced he's the man for the next 5-6 years, but basically my "why" is, he needs the opportunity to show whether the upturn in form in the second half of the season, with the excellent January transfer window followed by better results, is the start of an upward trend, or a typical "pressure is off so let's start playing" that we were accused of in Kenny's half season (although I think had we had a better summer window following that, spending the money better and keeping Meireles etc. that would have continued). Or even in Rafa's title challenge season, when we began to start twatting teams once we were seemingly out of it and ended up falling just short. In 12 months time, if we've had another season like this one as a whole, it would probably be time to make a change providing we could get a more proven manager in. If we've had two half seasons like the last half season, then he stays for me.
  3. That Inter forum thread is...interesting.. reading.
  4. To be fair it kind of is, our failure to do so with any great regularity in Rafa's title challenge year was what stopped us winning the league given our record against our 3 closest rivals that year. I guess our problem in recent years has been it's been one or the other, last year under Kenny we beat a lot of good sides (OK some were in cups) but struggled to break down the shite. This year has been the polar opposite, and to be any good we need both. Anyway, for what it's worth put me in the "Not convinced but give him another season" camp.
  5. Tried getting into this for a few weeks, but struggling so far. The main thing I prefer about regular cigs to these, is the ability to just take 5 minutes to step outside, light up, and then completely disengage my brain and either let my mind wander or think about the square root of fuck all (depending on how I feel) while getting some nicotine, until it's burnt down to just above the filter, reminding me that it's time to get back to work or whatever. But with these, I mean the one I have says something like "10-12 puffs = 1 cigarette", but I'm finding myself being like 1....*puff*....2....*puff*....etc.....10, or whatever. Because I'm the type that otherwise would probably just lose track and find myself having 2 or 3 times as much nicotine as I am now. I'm not trying to cut down and use them as a quit aid, but I don't want to find myself taking in the equivalent of 30 to 40 a day either. Also the buzz doesn't quite seem the same. I know when you smoke regularly the buzz disappears, but I did manage to have 2-3 days of using the e-cig exclusively, when I had my next cig after that time the nicotine buzz was like smoking that first one all over again. Persevering with it though, managed to cut my regular cig intake by about 20-25% I reckon, which is better than nothing I guess, and maybe it's just a whole getting-used-to-it thing, but right now I'm not confident of making the permanent switch for the reasons above.
  6. Didn't Hodgson want to sign him before he got the boot and we went for Suarez instead, or am I imagining that? EDIT: Was probably all Comolli's doing and subsequent un-doing, never mind.
  7. Just can't wait for Rafa to fuck off out of there, and hope he can get a job at a top club that I find inoffensive (in other words, abroad). Didn't want him sacked, wanted him back both when Woy and Kenny were sacked. To be honest I'd probably still want him (based on realistic options) if Rodgers was to get the boot but I don't want that to happen, hope we can build on our decent end to the season and onwards, upwards, all that shite. I think I might go and stare repeatedly at that Coutinho pass gif until our next match. Oh, and Fuck Chelsea.
  8. Delighted he's proving me wrong so far. Hope he keeps it up.
  9. In winning the European Cup, with any club, Rafa matched the achievement of many managerial greats of the game. In taking an unfancied English club to a UEFA Cup final before being soundly beaten in said final, Hodgson matched the achievement of Steve McClaren.
  10. Could probably have quadrupled the length of that highlights reel with Iker Casillas saves as well.
  11. Migraine is always a good one for if you just want one day off and come back in the next day feeling largely OK without having to put on a cough or anything like that.... ...which is utterly shit if, like me, you genuinely suffer from them on a fairly regular basis. I've never been pulled up on it but I can sometimes detect the "Ohhh right, course you had one!" in peoples voices sometimes.
  12. From what I remember my attitude was something like this: 18: Can get into pubs and order porn online, awesome. 19: What's the point? (compared to above) 20: Oh fuck there's a 2 at the start of my age instead of a 1, am I supposed to act 10 years older all of a sudden? 21: This one was OK actually, did go out on the piss with 2 or 3 others, fairly low key though 22, 23, 24: Start of the slippery slope 25: Shit, quarter of the way to 100 26, 27: Slope getting steeper, stop being offended when ID'd and start taking it as a compliment. Unsettled by the fact that some people born in the 1990s are able to be served. 28, 29: Getting closer to another decade, more than half my parents age, take in constant comments of "well I was married and had kids when I was your age" 30: See 20, but fuck it it's an excuse to see some people I haven't in ages.
  13. Generally not arsed, did something for my birthday just gone (well, went to a few pubs with friends and family), largely at the instigation of others rather than anything I organised, with it being my 30th. The last few years for...well, the best part of a decade, I've generally done fuck all on my birthday. Think my 18th was the last time I had any sort of real gathering before this one. I'd always put it down to a "getting old and not wanting to be reminded of it" thing than a male thing though.
  14. Been in one of those busy/preoccupied phases lately and the only football and area of the league table I've been paying close attention to is us - In amongst all the Di Canio political fuss I didn't realise how far in the shit Sunderland actually are. Even after O'Neill's sacking, I thought they were just going to be this year's "let's panic about relegation so we don't look like over-cocky twats just in case we do go down, then pat ourselves on the back when we inevitably finish 14th or something". Southampton comfortably mid-table and Stoke close to being sucked in too? fuck I need to get out less.
  15. I'll be unoriginal and take Nolan too, since I only found out she was on her way out the other week as I walked past the news stand, fresh in the mind and all that
  16. I think however the UEFA/Europa is dressed up in terms of format, won't make much difference as it will always be the poor man's CL as long as the latter's format is in place, simply because by definition it's for teams good but not quite good enough to get into to CL. The old UEFA was probably stronger than it is today simply because the old European Cup was for champions/holders only, and of course the champions of some weaker countries wouldn't be as strong as the 2nd/3rd/4th placed teams of some stronger leagues who wouldn't be in the European Cup, meaning that arguably the UEFA's overall quality across the board would be as good if not better than the European Cup's. That aside, I voted yes, I prefer some sort of European football to no European football. Also completely agree with the idea of giving the Europa League winner CL qualification for the following year.
  17. To be fair, I think if you can predict 10 under 30 celebs who will all snuff it in the next 12 months, you deserve the points, plus fair enough if people want to do this instead of the obvious really old or third world leaders a coup/revolution away from being lynched as I kind of have. I've only gone for the minimum U50s and 30s myself so not biased or particularly arsed, just my 2p.
  18. +1 for Vice City, dusted it off last summer and had a bash through it, the only bad thing I can say about it to be honest is that it feels over a little too quickly, even with all the side missions and everything else required for 100%. I have to say I definitely enjoyed/appreciated it more than I did when I first played it shortly after release.
  19. Posted this in the Oldham match thread before I saw this one but maybe it belongs here more: Regarding his comments after the game, it's not for me to be offended or otherwise on behalf of the youngsters he slated. If it gives them a kick up the arse and improves them in the future when they get chances, he was right to do so, if it demoralises them and harms future performances he was wrong, and only time will tell. Don't care whether carrots or sticks are used, as long as the donkey moves. I'm basically saying, with the comparisons to Hodgson's comments after formidable Northampton, yes the gist of the comments are similar, but to be honest for me he could have said whatever the fuck he liked (within reason) if his strong words were backed up with strong future performances. They weren't, and therefore his comments were rightly added in the "fuck-ups" column of the balance sheet.
