  1. It's become relentless; you have to be on it from game 1; and my fear is the continuation of loads of teams just rolling over and accepting defeat, and conceding 3,4,5 goals to them. However, when they play us, it's the 'cup final'.....and we have to scrap for a tight win. This team is worthy of more than just the one Title....but the fates seem to be conspiring against us.....
  2. They're an irrelevant little club, and no matter how many PL titles they' win' won't change that. To me they'll always be the City of Peter Swales; sacking managers left, right and centre - and getting relegated and returning after a few seasons. And yet fans of other clubs think they're great for stopping us winning....You couldn't make it up.
  3. Far too many people like him in politics; only it for themselves, and in his case, the top job/ and the power. Has no understanding of the ordinary person struggling to make ends meet - and never will. As it doesn't affect them. Where are all the politicians who want to make a difference? Utterly depressing, and grim.
  4. Not sure why it took so long - I did wonder that the talk of selling Chelsea was a bit off; finally action has been taken.
  5. "Bowling Shane......" A decade and a half of feasting on English teams in Ashes tests...they couldn't deal with him at all. I'm sure he played for Hampshire v Lancs in 2000 at Aigburth - as it was the first time I'd seen him bowl in the flesh.... Genius is an overused word, but if it was good enough for Richie, then it will do for me.
  6. I'm sure it's not Parc des Princes, but Stade de France, St Denis - last hosted it in 2006. https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2022/feb/25/champions-league-final-moved-to-paris-europa-league-draw-live
  7. One wonders what Lewandowski had to do to win the thing......and Mo only 7th, really?? Once again the football journalists proving they can't think for themselves, and behaving like sheep.
  8. Wish him well - but I'd have preferred him to move to another club, probably in Europe ( I liked Neil from TAW's suggestion about Germany) to finish his education before taking a job in the PL.
  9. Lo Squalo.... And for anyone of another Milan era; Il Genio... https://thesefootballtimes.co/2018/11/01/dejan-savicevic-the-outsider-still-fighting-for-recognition/
  10. It's the same shower running VAR in this country......it's not going to be a lot better, and not as good as it could be.
  11. In the early 80s I was given a collection of some mid/late 70s Shoot annuals; and there was a feature in it: 'Gerd The Goal', aka Der Bomber. He was always in the right place, and his record was astonishing. I also recall a statement, "his work rate isn't very good, but he certainly knows were the goal is".
  12. That 2nd half reminded me of the WC semi v Croatia; couldn't get hold of the ball, sat too deep, and hardly had a shot on goal...... When Italy equalised, it was hard to see were an English goal was coming from.
  13. I actually think there are some decent players there - but as already said, they're anchored by a managing 'no mark'. Plays it too safe, plays not to lose. Why pick two DMs against Scotland? Really??
  14. Their lack of knowledge is predictably depressing.....Imagine them actually doing a bit of research, like they should be doing. Is it really too much to ask? The answer is obviously yes....
  15. Same thing happened 6 months earlier in the final qualifier v Greece. He was lauded for a MOTM display, but he was anything but. His tactical indiscipline meant he was all over the pitch - leaving gaps down the right. And the last minute free kick was as soft as it gets.....and he duly delivered......sadly.
  16. Was never convinced he was a defender - he was far better going forward. But, he was never better than actual wide midfielders/wingers......
  17. Doesn't matter how many trophies they 'win' - to me they'll always be Maine Road, and Peter Swales regularly sacking managers.....
  18. Dortmund being Dortmund, losing at home to Koln 1-2, all the while Bayern come from behind to beat Stuttgart 1-3.
  19. It could/should be a good thing - overturning 'shockers', etc However, when you're drawing lines for mm offside decisions, then the system is wrong. Other sports implement their systems well, and are transparent. No reason football can't do the same; and it seems to be better in other countries. We have a problem in this country, it's called Mike Riley.......
  20. I'm another for this; clean & simple. And green for the goalie top.....(yeah, I'm showing my age)
  21. Ah yes, you mean Downhill MTB?? Not the XC version? Which is no were near as good.
  22. The ref who used to be a Kiwi, but is now an Aussie - how long before he's Welsh? He is abysmal, he 's been conning England for years, saying that, most refs do seem anti English. As expected, he got the scrum wrong...... 9/10 times I'd expect England to win, but I find it hard to accept a defeat like that, somethings not right.
  23. They obviously didn't expect Liverpool to take action, so decided they would..... Cretins!! Did Enrique or anybody complain about a tongue in cheek comment...
  24. Yes, and even had a goal disallowed in the first half, which Didi thought was harsh.
  25. Have to agree about Phil Gil - I think he's probably based his whole season around this race, as he's had a poor season until la Vuelta, getting into form just at the right time.
