  1. We all would like to see the back of the American owners. However, none of the alternatives seem to be attractive e.g asset management groups or international billionaires with little connection to football, never mind Liverpool. So lets say a multiple euro lottery rollover puts you in the Abramovich league. Would you buy the club and be the type of owner everyone wants? How would you react to YOUR money going on Aqualani, Dossena, Babbel etc and would your take over spell the end for Rafa? Whilst this is just pie in the sky it does put in perspective what we are entitled to expect others in that position to do.
  2. There is a really offensive one on occasionally from BT. It features a young girl and her parents who have, we assume, seperated. It shows the little girl crying when her father rings her on his mobile phone but later she cheers up when he calls from his BT landline. The implication of this pathetic emotional blackmail is that if the dad really cared, he would take his time and use BT. Perhaps if this inefficient company hadn't pissed away its vitual monopoly of British telecommunications it would need such desperate tatics.
  3. Whilst I am all for the rights of the working man, I am struggling to find any sympathy for BA strikers. With salaries above their equivalents in rival airlines and fantastic perks they come across as pampered relics from another era. One being interviewed yesterday, in shadow, voice disguised, was complaining about the loss of her Christmas holiday. She and her family had always enjoyed a free holiday at Xmas but thanks to Willie Walsh removing her perks they were facing the possibility of Christmas stuck at home this year. Put a kipper tie on Tony Woodley and he would be just like the union leaders of the 1970's standing outside British Leyland. BA is just going the same way.

  5. Don't agree with the second quote but the first is a valid point. I admit I'm an old bugger but I don't think Rafa fits what I think of as "The Liverpool Way" I just get embarrassed at the headlines of petty playground spats with clowns like Allardyce. Whilst he may be right in what he says, did rising to the bait from Ferguson do us any good last season?
  6. Walking along a row of shops thinking " why's that old bastard looking at me " then realising its your reflection in a shop window.
  7. No one would argue that the present owners have been good for the club but what alternatives are out there. Football finances are now way beyond a local version of Jack Walker buying us. What would have happened if DIC had bought the club? How would recent years compare and what effect would the Dubai situation have? Finally would anyone here back Rafa's judgement with millions of their own money?

  9. I started to hate the term " National Treasure" when it was used to describe Julian Clary. Probably by one of a number of powerful tv producers who think that camp always equals hilariously funny
  10. Started litening to audio books in the car as an alternative to local radio presenters. Just finished Betrayal in Naples by Neil Griffiths which I would recommend.
  11. Put a free range poached egg on top - fantastic!
  12. Is there any chance of just rising above the whole situation? Any chance of Liverpool supporters deciding that there are more important things today like getting behind the team and manager? Hurling childish abuse at an ex-player is an example of us moving away from "The Liverpool Way" to a small time mentality.
  13. An interesting post on what is a shocking article. In a way, there is already a type of "beauty contest" to determine which cases are given valuable publicity in the search for the missing person. For example, we are told a person goes missing every 2 minutes and yet the admittedly tragic case of Madeleine McCann dominated the press for years after the event, papers like the Daily Express became completely obsessed. Why then are some cases given hugh amounts of publicity and some hardly any? In the case of a missing person, a story needs youth and and intrigue. Throw in the fact that our press likes to portray foreign police forces as bungling Inspector Clouseau types and that perhaps is the answer. However, it must be a living nightmare to have a loved one go missing and not be able to secure any interest in the media to assist.
  14. With Dr Karl Kennedy for Gods sake????
  15. Why does this event pass without comment when it is blatantly racist. Imagine a show where white people present awards to other white people for being white. Whats wrong with a show that presents awards to best in category regardless of artist colour?
  16. I had thought that I was on the end of a practical joke by medical students. Went to the hospital for a prostate examination. I was put in a small, bare exam room to wait. It had just a bed and a table in it. For 10 minutes I was left staring at the box on the table. It was full of rubber examination gloves - marked size XXL. Sure enough, when the 6'4" doctor walked in, his hands were like 2 bunches of bananas. I bit the pillow.
  17. Chris de Burgh and his daughter. Isn't nature wonderful sometimes?
  18. Can't understand the stick that she seems to be getting in the press. It seems to come from people who don't understand that this is an entertainment show. Whilst she is not a professional dancer, she knows more about how the celebrity dancers are feeling than the other 3. She is cheerful, bright, bubbly and fit as fuck as this bloke could confirm.
  19. I think that a new stadium will always be a non starter to the present owners. They say there are waiting for the economy to turn. I am not a financial expert but surely this will mean a sudden increase in world demand for steel and the cost of the stadium will soar way out of their limited reach?
  20. I used to call * an asterix until someone loudly pointed out that that was a French cartoon character and I should have said asterisk.
  21. " It's a big ask" - for anything thought of as difficult. First heard this piece of nonsense from Andy Gray and now other pundits are saying it. Never once heard anyone outside TV football say it. Also, the over use of the word - literally. For example, Andy Townsend with half time analysis on a Champions League game last season explaining that an attacker was being denied space in the penaly area. "Look!!!" he shrieked "the defender is literally up his backside"
  22. I have opted for the easy answer of a title win. Its not that I love our owners, I just have difficulty with the assumption that our troubles will be over if/when they go. The club would be bought by someone either to make money or as a plaything. Both have disadvantages.
