  1. Oh come off it, when Utd reclaimed the title they were every bit as pissed off at their owners as us. Only their manager didn't rock the boat and won the title with a squad that was no great shakes.
  2. Why? We have a quality keeper, sound centre-backs, great centre mids, proven strikers, but admittedly the midfield flanks are poor. We just don't express ourselves or play positively.
  3. Thought that for the last few years as Rafa progressively becomes more defence-minded. As mad as it sounds the most freedom we've played with under Rafa was in his first season with a squad inherited from Ged. But many fans have embraced this, they want more defensive midfielders and are more concerned with attackers going backwards than forwards. It's a depressing philosophy.
  4. 16M for Downing but 8.5M for SWP? Both of similar fringe international ability. The home market wouldn't be so inflated if clubs stopped paying silly money.
  5. I get it too. I think it's all the tags loading before the forum is structurally/graphically stable.
  6. Don't think O'Neill did much wrong; fought hard to keep one of his best players. If somebody took a liking to Torres I'd hope we'd do likewise.
  7. The British film industry doesn't have the finance to launch new directors so many start in adverts/vids/tv, even Ridley Scott was directing Hovis adverts. Poor old Jonathon Glazer was lumped with directing Radiohead promos until Sexy Beast, and one flop later he's shooting ads for Sony.
  8. Spoke to a couple who went to the preview and they reckoned it was good. Whatever your opinion of Ritchie he is a good director (the flops were shite scripts) with a fair amount of style and flair. Even Kubrick couldn't make a turd Eyes Wide Shut decent. Lock, Stock, is a truly great film, although the plot framing is shamelessly stolen from Tarentino.
  9. Keane will be ok and we did require another striker. It's the flanks that worry me but it's been that way for years now.
  10. A lot of players on the pitch capable of pulling the trigger but it's more a question of who provides the creativity. Fair does to Liege, they're a more than handy outfit.
  11. It's just safe, bland rock music, as a forty-year-old I'm probably supposed to enjoy it - but don't. If you go back and listen to Slide Away or Listen Up it's great how Coyle captured their sound in near-feedback guitars and untamed drums - now the drums are gated and they're just an unruly Genesis.
  12. I've seen little of the guy so I've no idea if he's 'the Spanish Andy Sinton'. The price doesn't seem too bad and even if he is gash a Spanish club will take him back at not a great loss.
  13. Strewth, we need to get a good price for him just so we get back our original investment.
  14. We all know Rafa likes to rotate so there needs to be another option on the left; injuries/suspensions also occur. Downing is a very different player to Babel and will offer different options (Babel tends to make a beeline straight for the area)
  15. From Deerhunter - Microcastle Not the best track but there's little from the new album on Youtube wuZtx0MKkh4
  16. Agree with the above, they keep buying attackers and have nobody to shield the defence in midfield.
  17. Were Barry to do a Berbatov might that swing the deal? It looks like Utd want to pay £20-25m, Spurs want near 30m, so it's deadlock. But I wonder if his tantrum may force Spurs hand.
  18. We have to accept it, but being 'Liverpool FC' probably inflates a players value in the transfer market by £4m. Even more if your name's Chelsea...
  19. I asked for a McLaren Mercedes and get a GP2 car....
  20. The others have pretty nifty livery but ours just looks like a red car with a few stickers.
  21. Aye, from what I read on teletext he raised the issue of Barry's age and value. Maybe hoping to kneejerk us to get Barry then pick Xabi up on the cheap.
  22. Another uneven BP album. I wish someone would take all their drum machines and electronic gizmos away as they're at their best when keeping it simple.
