  1. As has been said, there's no reason we couldn't do it. But I just can't see us magically producing title winning form in time. I think results will improve, but they'll need to improve dramatically and quickly and I don't see that happening, unfortunately.
  2. There's no such thing as a single good man-management style. The best quality to have is flexibility in your approach because all players are different. Some, like Babel, need a gentle, encouraging approach. Others, like Torres, respond well to being continuously pushed even after good performances. It's also important to juggle this well, because taking markedly different approaches with different players will inevitably cause some resentment, so some consistency is needed.
  3. He's missed this season. The problems we've had at left back with Aurelio getting injured and Insua having some poor games, added with Johnson's current injury would have made him most welcome. Glad to see he's doing well. Hope his club fails though.
  4. Load of shite, isn't it? It's more than possible to argue that the players shouldn't have been signed in the first place. But after working to get a good fee for the lot, to be told that all that is being used to service a debt a pair of cunts used to buy the club in the first place. It's fucking awful, and it really makes me mad. Fuck you DM. Fuck you all the way to hell.
  5. I wish him all the best. He wasn't good enough, but we've had better players who've caused bigger problems.
  6. Agreed on the mentality bit. He's been part of a Liverpool side that's endured one of the worst run's in living memory, but he's come out the other side and is starting to improve. I'd still rather see more of Aurelio there, giving Insua more time to work on what he's picked up from first team experience, but nevertheless I think he's coped ok this season. Improvement is needed on the things you've mentioned but I don't doubt he'll work hard to do that.
  7. He's been unspectacular, but fuck me, how can you label a player a flop after no more than about 5 hours of football? Debate the effectiveness of his signing on this season by all means but that's not his fault, and sticking the boot into him so early is, to borrow a phrase from Holt's paymaster, "beyond the pale."
  8. No Skrtel at right back for me. Hope Kelly can be fit and make the step up consistently, if not, then it's time for Degen to do, well, something.
  9. Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend, Net spend. Think that's my annual quota out of the way!
  10. I genuinely can't understand that. How the fuck did they expect to keep it secret? Did they really think somehow the news wouldn't get back across the Irish Sea back into the British tabloids? Are they fucking thick? I've probably got the answer to that last one, mind.
  11. You're a cynic. You're also completely right, though.
  12. I remember the alarm that people were in that due diligence, a process that had taken DIC several weeks, was done by Tom Hicks and George Gillett over a weekend. And not even a bank holiday one at that. I remember this being posted, and I'm shamelessly ripping it off:
  13. 4 seconds into that video. That was the precise moment I started to believe that we could seriously win the thing.
  14. Pongolle high fived Evra with a big grin on his face just after Barnowl scored a sickening, undeserved, last-minute winning header at Old Toilet. He can fuck off.
  15. If he was so good, why did we sell him at a loss? And has he ever heard of a thing called inflation? £8.5 million was a fuckload of money at the time - the British transfer record and not far off the £13m that was the world record at the time. He didn't deliver. We've spunked money on some wasters since, no doubt, but he was as much an overpriced failure as any of them, largely through his shit attitude, so he can fuck off.
  16. The press had it in for Arsenal and Wenger at about this time last season. We got it in the neck a little bit, but the knives were well and truly out for him (maybe not as much as they are for Rafa, but not much difference). It's our turn.
  17. He's moaning about Hull having the week off, isn't he? Well, it's just the way it's landed, because they were scheduled to play a side who were playing in Europe midweek. It could have worked the other way round, it's just how it is.
  18. Fair enough. The (in)accuracy of Wikipedia is legendary!
  19. 111 yards (101 m) by 74 yards (68 m) according to Wikipedia. Old Trafford is 105 x 68 m (114.8 x 74.4 yd), Stamford Bridge is 113 x 73 yards (103 x 67 metres), and the Emirates is 113 × 76 metres.
  20. "Hello Martin, it's Rafa Benitez here. Can we buy James Milner?" "Fine, it'll cost you one million quid." "Bollocks. Never mind then."
