If he was 2 years younger, he would be worth holding on to, but at 23, I can't see him improving enough to be good enough. We need to move someone younger into his spot on the bench. It would improve their development much more than it's going to improve El Zhar's.

You could argue that because we did not win the league, "it is broke". If things remain the same, it's likely that we can't expect more than 5 goals from our central midfield. You could argue that's a tactical issue, but I can't see Xabi or Masch being goal scorers no matter what the tactical set up is. It's just not their strength. So we rely on our front four to score the vast majority of our goals: Kuyt had 12 league goals, Torres had 14, Gerrard had 16, Yossi had 8, Riera had 3, and Babel had 3. Would an extra 5 goals from Masch and Xabi's positions been the difference between where we finished and the title? Something is broke because we are for the 3rd season running, empty handed, but I think it's too risky to fix the lack of productivity from the midfield. This is not the season to attempt changing our style of play, which Xabi and Masch dictated so well last year. It's much less risky to buy a more productive left sided player.

Nope, thankfully he's still alive and kicking. Only ever worked for one team, though he did the World Series for years, as well as MNF. When I was much younger if my dad and I couldn't make it to a Dodger game, you can bet we'd be listening to them on the radio with Vin Scully doing the play by play. Even these days, people bring their radios to the game, and listen to Scully over their headphones while watching the game. He enriched the experience, which is more than I can say for most sport personalities these days.

I can confirm that this is a RiS style FACT. I can't stand the processed American Cheese; it's awful. Cheddar is typically best, but I've done a Brie grilled cheese sandwich...it was brilliant. Cheese is fucking aceness.

It's not that we need both players, but look at it from TT's point of view. He doesn't rate Kuyt at all, and when Yossi signed he started a thread titled "Yossi Benayoun...Fuck Off!!". He values the qualities of Silva and Robben much higher than the current players at our club, so it makes perfect sense to bring in to very good players whom he does rate. That, and Silva and Robben are very different types of wingers.

I could care less if Murphy had a dig at Benitez, he didn't have one at us. He's always shown us respect, and he's always shown us love. Murphy may not have done as much for the club on the field, but he'll have a page in our history to the footnote that Owen will have.

I would like to see us pick up Bojinov. He's put his injury behind him, and played well immediately. He could be excellent back up for Torres.

It's in the same vein as Army of Darkness, it's camp as fuck, and intentionally so. Brilliant films the both of them. That perfect balance between Action and self degrading comedy. -
Cambiasso's been mentioned a fair few times, but I read somewhere that they want 25 million for him, which just goes to show that 35 million for Alonso is more than fair.

You could say that about 99% of wingers though, I've heard it said about Robben and the window licker in the last month. It's been leveled at Simao. Malouda was the same last year, and I thought he was much improved and dangerous in his second season. Maybe it's the nature of the position. You go missing for periods if you play on the wing, unless you're that something really special. Kuyt's problem is his skill set as a winger is very different to most players in the position. He doesn't possess bags of pace, he doesn't have a consistent touch or good dribbling skills. He has graft, strength, game intelligence, and amazing stamina. I think he's working hard on learning to adapt to the wing, and make his attributes work for him out there, and we did see an improvement last year. I'd rather have a player on the wing who has a bad run of form, but keeps producing defensively, than a player who goes missing. I think he'll benefit from having Johnson's pace behind him this season. Should he be first choice? Probably not, but out of our lot, he and Yossi are first choice for me.
