I wouldn't bet on that, because I dont think enough of our supporters did boycott the merchandise. Whatever we feel, Liverpool is a global brand which means a large majority of our fans sit outside Liverpool (including me) and didn't really care about the situation with the owners enough to have stopped buying shirts (not me). Yes, they all helped with ousting them in the end, but the sad fact is that most were oblivious to what was going on until the last few weeks of their tenure.

Do the bus tour, it gives you a good overview and drops you off at all the tourist spots. I would go early in the week, so you can scope out the areas you want to explore in more detail. I went for New Years last year, and the NYE party was pretty damn good. A little cold with all the snow though.

Was a great program, and showed what a complex character he was. Not sure about the poetry in it though, didn't really fit with his image.

Snap, I stayed in Montechoro and thought it was spot on. Nice and cheap and at the top of the strip so you're far enough away from the nightlife to go to sleep, but still close enough to walk down. I went during the last world cup and the atmosphere was quality. Ended up watching the Portugal/Holland game there and the atmosphere was amazing on the strip, cars going up and down with flags, hot birds everywhere. Twas a good night. AYYYY PORTUGAL ALLEEEEEYY
