Sounds exactly like what happened to my dad - left school at 15, got a trade (upholsterer), and never spent a day unemployed, until he got made redundant at 53 (from a job he had had for 12 years). From then on, until retirement age at 65, he must have worked maybe 14 or 15 months out of the next twelve years. Couldn't get a job in his trade, and couldn't get any of the other menial jobs the job centre, or whichever restart program, told him to apply for, as he got the same reply every time - you're too old. Well, as everybody knows, I am king pessimist, so you know what I am going to say next :- We're gonna get mullered 6-0!! I am in no doubt, but I am in no doubt of this as well :- I am proud of every single Liverpool Fan today - those in Athens, and those everywhere else, and I am proud of everybody connected with Liverpool Football Club - players, staff, whoever! Whether we get beat 6-0, or get lucky and sneak it 1-0, or even on pens (neither of the last two will happen by the way), it is a phenomenal achievement in this day and age to get to two European Cup Finals in 3 seasons, and nobody (no blueshite, manc, or chav) can take that away from us. Gutted for the lad, but he knew himself it wasn't happening for him anymore - hope he retires after he bangs the winner in, in Athens.
