As for the 6 month thing, it does seem mad, but one thing to consider, if they think there is a good chance (or for that matter even a slight chance) of it being a malignant lump, the NHS usually use the 2 week rule for breast clinic referrals! So if they are going to leave a mammogram for 6 months, it may be worth thinking of this as a good sign!! If they thought there was a chance of malignancy, and they still decided to leave it 6 months, they are taking the piss, take her back to her GP, and demand an urgent breast consultant referral (mention the 2 week rule possibly?).
