Two points to bare in mind are: 1. Not all that money will go straight into their transfer "kitty". They have a massive debt to service and the Glazers would want to reduce it with some, probably most, of the £80m. 2. If Ronny was/is the best player in the world he is irreplaceable except by the best player i.e. Messi (IMHO)- and that's not going to happen!. The bottom line is that by selling him they have weakened their best eleven.

Footy is a game of opinions, and you are entitled to yours. I always feel that the question of who is the best player in the World is impossible to answer - different positions to be taken into consideration. The question should be "Who is the first player you would pick for your side?" For me the answer would be Stevie Gerrard - that's my opinion.

Like all these "comparison" games, you have to ask the question, "Who would I rather have in my side, Messi or Gerrard?" For me the answer every time is "Gerard" I've watched LFC since the old Second Division days and my first three on my all time greats teamsheet would be Gerrard, Dalglish and Emlyn. Good objective post, but you have to realise that there are very few real supporters on here - they are mainly a load of whingers who know very little about Liverpool and the "Liverpool Way" or even football in general. You are wasting your time being sensible with them. I'm afraid that the type of genuine supporter that was brought up with the old Boot Room and its values is vanishing very fast and being replaced by the idiots you find on forums like this one - so-called "Reds" who do little else but revel in bad results, and better still, bad individual performances so that they can crucify individual Liverpool players. Most sensible comment on here. Teams who are down to 10 are invariably harder to beat, so yes we were on top when the sending off happened and, I think that we would have gone on to win this game.

It was an old fashioned "jump tackle" - very dangerous and definitely a straight red card. I thought it was the best refereeing decision in the match - not many people saw it as it was the first time, so full marks to the man in black!
