  1. there was an excellent horizon documentary about 3 years ago about the cobal mines in (I think) DRC where Tesla got their cobalt from. The use of minerals from Africa and any other developing nation has and always will remain a concern in any industry, and the more focus on it, the better, as exploitation of people (not just kids) needs to be stopped. doesn’t stop me from thinking that buying and EV is the right thing to do on balance, personally, but I definitely can’t ignore the issues.
  2. What are the couple of things? Go on, really let it out.
  3. How are you getting on with it overall. I put an order in for a new 85 model which should be with me in about 15 or 16 weeks now.
  4. Then 777 but them anyway for buttons and still add them to their stables of basket cases.
  5. You’ve mistaken “being in the same city” with “wearing similar garments” there mate.
  6. Doesn’t feel nervy. Definitely flatter at half time that’s it should be after that pen miss. Felt inevitable, especially after it looked like Mac was taking it. been a great performance and atmosphere is “decent”. Not helped one bit by fucking Var interrupting goal celebrations.
  7. American football has many (many) faults and their use of tv replay is definitely not what we should be aiming for, but… with that said, their use of replay is only permitted for specific things, and those are all intended to be fact based, non subjective calls. was a ball caught; was a player already ‘down’ before fumbling; was a players foot in or out of bounds; were there 12 men on the field; was the ball past the goal line/1st down marker. Absolutely not a perfect, but even they have it right that you can’t use slow motion replays to confirm or overturn subjective calls for fouls. we’re stuck with VAR and technology so we need the rulers of the game to accept the same. Use it for objective calls only. Did the ball cross the line (that tech obviously works); did the ball go out of play (the tech isn’t there but cameras can usually give a good angle to confirm or deny); is a player offside (I don’t like it, I think it’s against the spirit of the law but I’ll accept I’ve lost this one, and use the automated system); is it the right person that getting booked or sent off for an offence. For fouls the only time it should be used is to check if there was contact when a penalty has been awarded (ie overturn if a complete dive, but stick with a decision otherwise). If it can’t be entirely objective, either because it’s a subjective call in the first place or because the evidence isn’t there/clear, then let the refs decision stand. I’m theory, it should be possible to use it for some other subjective things, like rugby does, but it’s been proven beyond doubt that they can’t do it without it spoiling the game or continuing to have massive errors. That’s either because it simply doesn’t suit the game or because the officials are too incompetent to use it, or too insecure / immature / unprofessional to use it. It doesn’t matter why, in truth. It just simply is proven to make the game worse and so should be binned off as far as possible. ideally, it would be scrapped altogether but that’s not a reasonable expectation so instead, let’s strip it as far back as possible.
  8. yeah, members have it worse. My point was more that the club would just as much like to fuck us as they do you, if they could get away with it. and the sharing tickets without any penalty won’t last. That will be next.
  9. Why are there last of the summer wine message boards?
  10. Only listened to the first 27 minutes while I drove home, but already an all timer. @Pauls passion and emotion - so real Some Zod talk but listening to @Stu Monty made me think a lot of things, but that “going to the well so often and not getting the shiny things” is what it comes down to more than anything. I wonder if us challenging when none of us really thought we would has accelerated his thinking. That failed quadruple almost certainly left scars. Last season showed it. Now we’re back in the hunt for every trophy again, favourites for two of them, top of the league and still I doubt anyone really believes we’ll come out with the league title because of those cheats in Manchester. I wonder if it’s made him think “I can’t keep doing this” and so we might as well let that news come out now. It could be the extra motivation we need, it’ll drive the fans on that little bit more, and it can’t look like failure if he walks after missing out on another title if we do.
  11. Exactly what came to my mind immediately. Can’t believe it. Absolutely gutted.
  12. Only if you were in it the previous year. I’m sure it will have said that the time I decided to opt out, but if it did I didn’t read it, and so no more domestic cup matches for me. I kept Europe, thankfully, though I’ve never been successful in a ballot for any European finals.
  13. The gilded life of a season ticket holder also has its flaws. Like… I’ll never be able to take my daughter to a match unless I can persuade someone who sits near me to miss one. edit: oh, and I’ll never go to a cup final again cause I said no to the ACS one year not knowing it was a use it or lose it situation
  14. Ninja. Where he shouldn’t be.
  15. mom pretty sure he didn’t and hooper got that right. it looked like he’d given them a free kick but he actually let us play on, but the chance broke down (keeper or defender cleared it) so he stopped the game for the defender being down and restarted with a drop ball. We didn’t see the drop ball but the comms said it did. if Jota had gone on to score it would’ve counted, I’m pretty sure. overall I thought Hooper did fine considering he’s the second or third shittest ref in the league.
  16. There was no VAR in use. Hasn’t been all through the competition due to some non-Prem teams being in the comp still. And it’s been Miles better for it. but now it’s PL v PL in the final, VAR will be in action again, so they can ruin it if they want to.
  17. I only watched the first 30 minutes, but “ironic cheer” seemed to be their main song.
  18. Missus has been feeling I’ll for about 3 weeks and is doing panto at the moment (local am dram) with 2 shows Saturday and one today, so I said I’d come round and cook us a dinner. made a veggie massamam curry with rice and homemade sweet corn fritters cooked in the air fryer. was absolutely outstanding.
  19. Don’t like the look of his mash. Needs peas.
  20. Real shame. Comes down to a missed kick and packers missing two picks vs 9ers catching both of theirs. way beyond expectations for the season, especially how it looked in October/November.
  21. The knobheads in the crowd make me want him to lose.
