I'd still stick with Carra and one other CB (depending on form and who we're playing) but otherwise that's the team and formation I'd go for as first choice for most of our games. If those players performed with reasonable consistency over the season we'd get top four.

Yes but how come he has looked better when partnered by Ngog or Kuyt?

 

He looks isolated too often upfront on his own, especially away from home.

Your wrong, its was 4-5-1 and I did watch the match on Saturday all be it on TV. It was definately 4-5-1: Torres up front, Cole and Kuyt on the wings, Meireles, Gerrard and Poulsen in the middle, Ngog came on for Poulsen to make it a 4-4-2 and a few mins later we equalised. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT!! Dont bother responding. Just because on the main page he said it was 4-4-2; he only played it for half an hour or so.

Aurelio injury latest - Liverpool FC

 

Roy Hodgson has refused to put a timescale on Fabio Aurelio's return from injury.

 

The Brazilian sustained an Achilles problem during the 1-0 success over Trabzonspor last month and the boss admits he has been reluctant to rush him back too early.

 

"Where Fabio Aurelio is concerned, caution and prudence have to be the words that we use," said Hodgson.

 

"He is progressing all the time and his efforts are very commendable but we can't bring him back too early.

 

"We took him off against Trabzonspor as a precautionary measure, as we didn't want to run the risk of him sustaining a serious problem."

 

I'd give Kelly a run at left back while Konchesky and Aurelio are out. Thought he did ok there earlier in the season.

I agree.

 

If Torres was fully fit and firing, I would also have him upfront on his own - but he isn't and as the service isn't great at the moment, I'd give him some help.

Aye. Torres on his own is a bit of a myth anyway - the 4231 should be Torres supported by three attackers. However, the way we're set up at the moment is too deep and so Torres is isolated.

 

You could counter that by playing 442 and so Torres isn't so isolated, or you could change the approach and get us to be more attacking. I know which I'd prefer, particularly (at the risk of repeating myself - again) as 442 has been shown up to be poor.

I agree, plus when Kuyt plays on the right it's his defensive role, he gets into the box at every opportunity he gets, so he is virtually a striker, infact, I think playing Kuyt on the right wing makes him a better player.

 

I find it quite amusing that people are questioning Torres' lack of effort, when he attempted more tackles than Gerrard & Poulsen against Sunderland, so I'd say he's working quite hard upfront.

with the fullbacks providing the width. It can also be played with Kuyt on the right with Meireles and Gerrard supporting Torres.

 

Forgot to include a dm not bothered between Lucas and Poulson tbh
