  1. Kinell Stig. Have you shagged all the birds down South already?!
  2. That's fine; define it however you want. The problem is, people have been claiming for millennia that their gods can be observed and detected, because they intervene in our world.
  3. I think there's a lot of misunderstanding of atheism in general; I'm certain that virtually all atheists would happily concede that they're open to changing their mind if sufficient evidence was produced, and that's why I think the comparisons with faith-based positions are unfair and incorrect. Atheism isn't a religion, and neither is science, unless you just redefine the words away from their actual meanings. I tend to think of myself as an agnostic atheist. I'm completely unmoved by religious claims, but I'm open to the possibility of what I think Stronts called a "super being" or whatever - despite thinking it unlikely. I think of it in these terms: just as one can't hear with one's eyes or see with one's ears (bats notwithstanding), it makes logical sense for there to be at least the possibility of something that is by definition beyond the ability of our human brains to understand it. I just doubt that thing's a dude with a beard sitting on a cloud.
  4. I have a particular hatred of people who use the word "learn" as a noun. Also people who start every sentence with "So". Add them together them to square the levels of cuntery. "So, we were discussing all the learns from yesterday's training"
  5. Cool factoid from that link: I had a lovely "Vesuvius" pizza last night. Got a feeling I'm going to regret it later though.
  6. Well in Skids. Best of luck fella.
  7. I expect at least one costume change from the performers midway through my entertainment product.
  8. When I was a student, my parents bought me a Black & Decker workbench for Xmas. I've still got no idea why, I think they just thought it was the sort of thing people should own. Amazingly, I wasn't even surprised; they'd bought me a drill the year before.
  9. Girl I work with had it done a couple of years ago. Apparently they didn't go far enough (if that makes sense), but they took her back and did them again without charge. She's made up with them now.
  10. Hard to argue with any of this. They've been here nearly six years. It'd be standard venture capital MO to look for an exit of some sort around five. "Hi, my name's John and I'm here to offer you 30% of my company for £350M."
  11. I was at a church wedding at the weekend. It was really striking just how many people refused to participate in the prayers and singing hymns. And I mean actually refused, not mumbling a bit or bowing their heads - just stood there doing nothing. It was a big majority. Made me think we really do live in a secular society now.

    Coffee

Mrs Kant puts a spoonful of coconut oil in her coffee. Very good for you, apparently.
  13. What's with this gooch business? You've got far too many euphemisms for a part of the body I've never heard anyone refer to, ever.
  14. As an aside, I listen to a lot of podcasts and I've recently started listening at 1.25x speed (occasionally 1.5x if the quality of speech is good) so I can consume more content. It's surprising how quickly you get used to it!
  15. It's about 50 minutes long. The first 20 mins or so are commentary, and the rest he's mostly reading from ISIS's magazine; you can read the article on p.30 here.
  16. I listened to that podcast a couple of days ago. Funnily enough, I had this thread in my mind a bit while I was listening but decided against mentioning it. I mean, it's probably the most convincing case anyone could think of making, and the content is largely written by ISIS themselves. I can't imagine the intellectual contortions you'd have to go through to think they don't mean exactly what they say. Don't think it'll change any minds in this thread, like.
  17. Good post. Also in motorsport a mention for Graham Hill - two F1 championships plus the only driver ever to win the triple crown of Le Mans, Monaco and the Indy 500.
