  1. Tbf, it's hard almost to the point of being impossible to get those kind of players now, simply because EVERYONE'S scouting system is so good in comparison to what it used to be. Those sort of players will still exist, but they'll hardly ever be found at the likes of Scunthorpe, Blackpool, Chester, Northampton or lower league Scottish teams any more. Because players that good will have already been hoovered up, sometimes at a ridiculously young age by whichever big club takes them to their academy. Of course there is no reason why we shouldn't be one of those big teams doing the hoovering but, there is intense competition from both Manc clubs, the big London clubs, even Everton when it comes to local kids and, Rangers and Celtic in Scotland. To some extent even the likes of Leeds, Newcastle and Villa, depending on the whereabouts of the young player involved will provide competition for us if we are trying to sign players at a young age. It's all just so much more complicated and difficult now compared to when you could miraculously find not one, but two world class players at the likes of Scunthorpe.
  2. I didn't notice at the time of voting you could vote for 3 players and now it won't let me do the other two even when I go back to it. Kenny was gonna get the other two votes aswell as the one he's already got.
  3. Perhaps if those who lived and breathed the game kicked fuck out of him, (only on an occasional basis obviously) he might then grasp how much of a cunt he is.
  4. I voted for Picture This along with a paltry 4 others. Hmmph! Anyway..... Most seem to regard Parallel Lines as being their definitive album. And it is indeed good but, as with my preference for Picture This, I'm in a minority again by saying I preferred Plastic Letters. Contrary bastard me. :|
  5. They are making an American version at this very moment aren't they? Thought the 3rd episode was a bit slow, though I do like it. Hope it has a proper conclusion though I suspect it won't.
  6. It's been his ambition to play for Liverpool ever since he was a foetus.
  7. I've never understood why so many of them go there. I went there for a day once and liked it, but wouldn't go there for a holiday or even a short break. The beach is great, big, clean and sandy, also with clean water and there is the lovely backdrop of the Cambrian mountains. But there isn't actually anything else there.
  8. True, and virtually anywhere else on the Lleyn Peninsula is good and would make a nice base for seeing the whole beautiful area. Anywhere except Pwllheli that is, which is a dreadful place.
  9. I'd say he is at least as good as the Joe Allen we've seen up to now. Whether that means he really is as good as him remains to be seen. Probably not, but lots of improvement required from Joe next season.
  10. Apologies if it's already been covered, but unsurprisingly I wasn't gonna read 100 pages to find out. Women, for arguments sake let's say women like my wife, fail to grasp that us men can quite easily form emotional attachments to shirts. Just because they sling everything after wearing it about 3 times at most, they wrongly assume that we are the same and it's perfectly OK for them to have a clear out of OUR stuff without even mentioning it first. The first you realise is when you go looking for a particular shirt and can't find it so ask her has she seen it. "Oh that old thing, it went in a bin bag along with some of your other old stuff and I took it to the charity shop." You have to recognise the signs to prevent this happening. When she stops ironing certain stuff you know she is mentally already half way to the charity shop with it. It's a delicate subject to broach though as there is a serious danger of her telling you to iron your own shirts if you don't go about it in the right way. Such as "remember that nice shirt I wore when we went out for our anniversary? I wouldn't mind wearing that one again some time soon". She'll get it sorted if you use these tactics and the charity shop will wait for another day. She recently excelled herself though as she threw out all my painting gear which I put on when I decorate. Me - "Have you thrown my painting gear out"? Her - "Yeah, it was full of paint". Me - "It's supposed to be, it's my painting gear". Her - "Well you can put some of your other old stuff on instead next time you decorate". Me - "I can't, you took it all to the charity shop in a black bin bag last week. I won't ever be able to decorate again now". Her - "Iron your own shirts in future"!
  11. The idea which was championed by Rafa of having a "B" team in the lower leagues just as they do in Spain, is fine in theory. The reality though would quite possibly be very different due to the overly physical, ale house footballing culture which exists in this country. I'd be terrified for the well being of a team of mostly teenagers, however talented they may be, if we were sending them out to face a bunch of hairy arsed cloggers at Hartlepool or somewhere, where there are bound to be at least one or two players desperate to finally make a name for themselves by putting a player from a big club straight in to row Z. I also suspect the players themselves, and forgive the racial stereotyping but, especially the foreign ones, would also be terrified, and possibly mentally scarred once they've experienced it. Sizeable elements of English football are still stuck in the dark ages, even at Prem and International level, never mind in the lower echelons of the league system.
  12. It was weird with Coates. He was selected against City early in the season, a decision which had people worried bearing in mind how inexperienced he was and who we were playing. But he did really well and Rodgers was praised for his bravery and suddenly Coates seemed to be next in line behind Agger and Skrtel and, speaking for myself, I was also remembering how well he played at Stoke the previous season in the league cup game, especially bearing in mind how difficult it is for ALL defenders against their yard dogs. So I was quite hopeful for him. But then he just wasn't picked any more for league games, not even making the bench for several of the games after the City one and, then when he was on the bench, if a CH needed replacing, it was always Carra who came on. Eventually Carra deservedly got his 1st team place back so Skrtel was then ahead of Coates on the bench so, he basically wasn't playing at all for us at any level. Inevitably I suppose, he lost both form and confidence and, maybe fitness too, so when the FA Cup came along and he was finally picked, he promptly had a bit of a nightmare against Oldham and despite not being the only one, wasn't seen again 'till right at the end of the season when the games didn't matter much. I agree he almost certainly won't make it with us now but, it just might have been different if he'd been treated differently earlier on in the season and given more chances at a time when he himself probably thought he deserved them.
  13. Talking about Martin Kelly specifically for a minute..... I like this lad a lot but, expecting him to slot in at centre back would be a massive ask. As well as all the time he has missed through injuries generally, when he has played, it's been as a full back so he can't have played as a centre back for a long time now and, as far as I can remember, he will never have played there for the first team. If I'm wrong and have forgot something, it certainly can't have been for more than one or two games. It's such a specialised position anyway so any inexperienced youngsters might struggle there for a while even if it is their proper position. With him being such a good athlete, well capable of getting up and down the pitch, tackling/defending, plus attacking/getting good crosses in, which is a rare ability these days, I'd be quite happy to see him carry on as a full back myself. Speaking generally about our youth set up, I've watched loads of the games on telly these last few years and have been impressed overall, yet still a bit confused about which way it is heading and which methods are the best. I think we've got more individual players capable of making it than we have possibly ever had, some of them having already played for the 1st team a few times of course. Yet as a team we still looked way behind the Mancs at u21 level, and amongst others, Chelsea at u18 level and they didn't manage to beat Norwich in the final I noticed. So I'm left wondering if producing individual talent is more important than creating a proper team and instilling the required tactical organisation and winning mentality that both those teams seemed to have in a way we didn't. Or vice versa. Only time will tell I suppose when it's been established just how many we've got playing successfully for the first team and how it compares to the other top clubs.
  14. Something I've found this year much more so than in recent years, is that cheap flights are much harder to come by. Even though we in Liverpool have both Ryanair and Easyjet to choose from to get to several destinations, it all seems to be so much more expensive this year, unless you want to go to Knock in Ireland. That's not to say they aren't cheaper than Monarch, Thomson and Thomas Cook, or even Jet2, just nowhere near as cheap as they usually have been. Which after a break of about 4 years of travelling independantly, means we've been driven back to TC for a package holiday this year.
  15. It's deffo Natalie Sawyer like, but I could have been tempted by Hayley McQueen apart from one thing. When she stands up, you can't help notice her bottom half is a bit hefty.
  16. Girls who were that way inclined have been known as nymphomaniacs (and other things.) I think fellers were just jealous of the fact that such girls were given a title, so someone responded with sex addict and it stuck. Nothing to worry about really as eventually all the sex addicts will inevitably meet up with all the nymphomaniacs and they'll all fuck happily after. Just a question of time.
  17. Must admit, I've heard a few wild shite stories from the Dom Republic too. It's something to do with the tendency for people to go on all inclusive holidays as far as I know. Whether or not that's down to the quality of the food, or poor hygiene standards by those who handle it I wouldn't know. However.......I very much doubt it compares with Egypt so you are right to be wary of that place for those reasons. My daughter went there a couple of years ago, a weeks Nile cruise then a week in some resort I can't remember the name of. She inevitably spent most of the holiday shitting, as did her feller, as did every British person they spoke to. In fact having the wild shites was the main topic of conversation among pretty much all the British tourists they met. And immodium doesn't work either. You have to pay money to see a doc and more for the tablets he gives you which work well enough to get you through the holiday. But neither she or her feller were totally back to normal for about 3 months. And she STILL says it was the best holiday she's been on! Oh yeah, we'll be going to a little fishing village in Kos called Mastihari this summer. Been a few times now - absolutely no wild shites!
  18. People usually bring his wages in to it when having a go at Taylor. I don't have a problem with that myself, not in principle anyway - he's head of a union which has some VERY high earners among its members, even further down the league there are plenty who earn more than most of us can dream of. So it's no surprise that someone involved in such an "industry" also earns a very good wedge. Except for one thing. He's absolutely shit at his job, everything he says is shite and many of the things he comes out with are factually wrong, often displaying unbelievable levels of ignorance, both generally and, at times about individual cases. Plus he's a fucking cunt! THAT'S why he is overpaid!
  19. "Hey Dave, do I get my reward now or after I've gone to Bayern? Cos the diversion I provided you with after your privatise the NHS scam has got to be worth at least an MBE hasn't it?"
  20. She's absolutely fantastic and this pic is one of the naughtiest non porn pics you could wish to see. Especially when you see the whole photo which for some reason they never show now. The original photo showed not just the suggestion of phallic imagery with the ice cream in her hand between her lovely tits with it all dripping downwards, but also the ice cream drips landing on her thighs (she was wearing bikini bottoms too.) They never show the bottom half of the pic now though. She's obviously FAR too respectable is our Holly.
  21. Their first goal was obviously a joke, I can only assume the ref's view was blocked. Then we were denied one stonewall pen and another one that was probable, and would have been given by another ref on another day. But..........if we hadn't waited 'till the 2nd half to turn up, these things surely wouldn't have been issues. Even the 2nd half performance wasn't that great when compared with some of the performances from this season, but it was much better than what went before. Arsenal and Man U away in the last 2 games, so no guarantee we'll get the 3 points required to reach the knock out stage. Which would be a pity as when playing our full strength team, which unlike tonight would include Coady and Suso, we are the only ones capable of stopping Spurs from winning it based on what I've seen this season.
  22. Luis Suarez - the highlight of Everton's season for the 2nd season in a row.
  23. Tremendous game that, really enjoyable. Two good sides playing some great stuff. Probably a bit harsh on Arsenal but far from being any sort of smash and grab as we played very well too. I thought Wisdom played reasonably well myself, it was the whole team that was too open, not just because of anything he was doing, plus Arsenal play in that same pass and move with pace style that the first team do, which can make any team look open. Anyway, the game itself was open and Arsenal will be saying similar things. I'm surprised we don't get bigger crowds when the games are played at Anfield, plenty of locals don't get the chance or can't afford it with the 1st team and, it's not as if the games aren't worth watching. Hope plenty turn up for the cup semi, I know I will be.
  24. Don't get out to pubs as much as I used to due to the outrageous cost of a pint. I only get to a handful of matches these days so that reduces my opportunities straight away. I know beer is relatively cheap in supermarkets, though various interference from govt backed health nazis are doing their best to change that, and there is still the likes of Wetherspoons that sell it comparatively cheap. Other than that, people telling me that it is cheaper than ever these days are liars as far as I'm concerned. How can a man go out and drink 14 pints these days when it's over £3 a pint? I actually don't think people go out and sit in the pub any more (if they can find one that's not closed down) just for a drinking session the way we used to not that long ago. Even those that do, such as "young people" in town at weekends get either coked up or tanked up on supermarket bought stuff beforehand, thus reducing the amount they actually drink when out anyway. Don't care what anyone says or what stats they produce to convince me otherwise, the cost of a pint in the pub is a disgrace and, although I know it's not the only reason so many of them are closing down, it must play a big part.
