  1. But is it possible to remain abysmally poor to uninspiringly average for 17 games and still think things are going to get better?
  2. 10 games gone, 1 good half against Arsenal, 70 minutes against a poor Blackburn team. That's it. I'll be honest I've never been so unenthused about watching LFC in 40 odd years, even Souness was entertaining in its own way. I now watch Newcastle, WBA and Wolves with envy, even Everton for god's sake. Is that acceptable, not at all. We are Liverpool FC and unless we wish to go the way of Preston, Corninthians and many others we have to change.
  3. Which is not saying that much given how absolutely abysmal that away (and home) form has been. I won't say we've been consistently fantastic away from home in recent years but that's always been balanced against some fantastic home and CL games, at the moment that balance does not exist. Today was acceptable (much like last week when you consider how poor the opposition were). I said this last week that we've been slipping down the cliff in an unbelievable manner but I would say the last two games have done nothing more than find us on a ledge for a while. I'm glad we won, I always am, and have climbed the table but I'm yet to be convinced that we have turned any major corners, the next two home games are now proper tests of whether anything substantial has improved. We used to expect a realistic chance of beating Chelsea at home and away with a similiar squad so that's our measure. I really can't seeing the relationship between the fans and the manager ever becoming a love affair and I remain convinced that we need someone really special to take a club which is financially behind at least 4 others over their heads, I can't honestly say Roy is that man, the purchases of Poulsen and Konchesky are the best evidence of that, regardless of the football played. If we are content to settle for competing in the Europa league at best, he's your man.
  4. The improvement over the last year or so is tangible, I can see a number of players who could make the grade, previously it was the odd one and even then they looked like a gamble.
  5. Nothing better than a selfish bastard getting what he deserves. The way he ran down his contract and left in 2004 reeked of a man who thought he was better than us. It must have stuck in his throat watching Istanbul, also knowing that his career effectively ended in 2004 at the age of just 24 158 goals for LFC in 6 years, most of his England goals as well during this time 56 for everyone else in 6 years, relegated to BT advert using 'non-world cup' 'Stars'
  6. Its looking like September 2012 before either of these two see a CL game again, I don't suppose either of them at the world cup as they carried the trophy round considered themselves journeymen footballers who would be attached to a mid/low table club. What would you do if it was you?
  7. Get at them yanks, fired up again BBC News - BA chairman attacks US airport security checks
  8. Ancellotti is a class above, most people respect Chelsea now, which considering they have Terry and Cole and were despised not long ago is no mean feat. In the same way AC Milan were also respected, he's got humour, class and dignity. While we are on Italians Di Matteo seems to have it as well and I've missed Mancini's gaffes if he's made them (except for the scarf). You can add Ranieri as well. On the other side of the coin, Ian Holloway, what a star, no class at all but a true star indeed. "some....... person" shows restraint in the middle of a massive Keegan like rant.
  9. 1-Everton connections may be too much for many 2-No big time experience at all really, less than Roy There's a few managers around who will grow into decent ones, we can takes some risks but not gambles
  10. I did say Pellegrini would be a risk, I would prefer Hiddink. Having said that I am now willing to take a risk so I would back Pellegrini, at the very least he's got an air of class and dignity about him and it would save us Reina and Torres hopefully. We've had 5 world class players in the last 2 years, we've lost 2 and 2 more are at risk, the other is 30. Mediocrity beckons, risks are needed.
  11. I'd heard they'd set him a target of 7 points from the next two games, still didn't get the message
  12. When I see milk in a bottle, it is usually milk. I remain unsure though sometimes as to whether it is fresh until I have sniffed it thoroughly. Especially if I have been getting a run of sour milk from that particular milkman.
  13. Simple, we played well for the majority of the game in what will probably be the easiest game this season and won 2-1. Does not tell us much more other than the fact we have the capability of playing well if allowed and we can be more positive. As every game so far this season has been a backward step I will accept that for this game and Napoli we managed to at least stay on the same step for a while.
  14. Roy has got Reina playing with his style, being busy. Some scoffed when I said there was a problem within the squad after the Sunderland game, I still believe there is a split between some players because the Spanish lads who Rafa brought in now see things in a different way. You would wouldn't you, if you'd just won the world cup, be a little dismayed at fighting a relegation battle and having a manager who talked shite to the media nearly every day. Yes, I believe there is a loyalty to LFC and the fans but its being strained beyond the point of what you'd take. I firmly believe we face a week which will shape the future of our club for the second time in a fortnight (not unconnected)
  15. Conversely, you never lose anything by winning I love counter arguments, although I will never accept losing
  16. Tell him he's David Moyes's lovechild and when he's 21 his hair will go red and curly and his eyes will start to bulge
  17. OK, You're in, Anfield Iron Innocent days, "Liverpool are magic, Everton are tragic", trick question, St.george's hall not town hall, more seething everton fans, pity Emlyn was a bit of a dick sometimes Now go and smack his arse
  18. I even took it to the late 80s/early 90's for you, you're 16 aren't you? Tie break, Emlyn's cry from the town hall, Alan Kennedy's and Tommy Smith's nicknames
  19. Peppered by Blackburn for 90 minutes with 25 world class saves by Pepe (after being Peppered), Reina goes up for corner in injury time and scores with header, 1-0, crowd cheer for Mr Henry throughout as welcome to Anfield. Henry gets message, we're lovely but we deserve better.
  20. I think an accurate description of an average Gary Ablett performance and the highest/lowest points of the Ronny Rosenthal LFC career would get you your credibility back. (just for fun of course)
  21. You lesbian's get everywhere Bobby Michael Johnny Zoe Kenny Scratchin my Lucille Ugly bug Alan In that order
  22. He's not a genius but he's a breath of fresh air, I hope Blackpool stay up just for that so we get to hear from the Bristol sage. Can you just imagine (not serious) if Holloway was manager instead of Hodgson (apart from the fact that no decent european players would come within 10 miles of the club), it wouldn't matter if the game was crap you'd just be looking forward to press conferences and after match interviews, football would become irrelevant (hold on, that's where we are now without the fun)
