  1. The main difference is for every goal Carroll scores, he misses 5 sitters. Henderson doesn't even get the sitters in the first place.
  2. We've taken risks too, 80 million quid of them. You want more risks? Stop suggesting this is further than we've been in our lifetimes, I remember plenty of years when we were just as far off the top. And it wasn't that long ago either. He's here until he says otherwise, so the fans have no choice but to get behind him, as there is literally no other candidate available, wanted or willing to take on this job. I said last year that no European football this year wouldn't help us. It hasn't helped us. Next year, we're back in Europe and able to attract a better class of player than we have in the past 12 months. Until then, we have a cup to fight for.
  3. Forget it Code. We won one game. Chance of Top 4: 0% Our league season is finished. We have our European spot, it's just about looking after the FA Cup now.
  4. Kenny won a trophy as little as two weeks ago. You don't sack someone who just wins trophies, unless there's a disciplinary issue. As in Rafa at Inter. Mistakes in the transfer market? The transfer fees paid were bigger mistakes. Our world-class forward was banned for 8 games for a "probable" offence. Our star midfielder in the engine room was out injured for 9 months. Those factors have made their own contribution to our results. He made no mistake in the Suarez issue, he was right to back our player over a load of rubbish. He didn't handle the Sky interview at old toilet well, but then again, he hadn't seen what was behind it at the time. And the pre-game handshake business these days is a load of nonsense anyway. You cannot question or express concern regarding Kenny Dalglish. Do so and your cards are marked. I know from bitter experience. Rafa had to go. 4 years of failure, constant fallouts with players, coaching staff, club officials, and hundreds of millions in transfer fees wasted saw to that. You can be guaranteed he'll find someone to cross swords with, even in a month's work. At the time he arrived, Hodgson's stock in the club game was high. He had taken a minnow club 20 minutes from the drop to the UEFA Cup Final, was well liked in the game, admired by the press, and it cost us a fair amount of dough to buy him out of his contract to get him up here. It was a gamble, and he tried his best in very difficult circumstances, but it ultimately wasn't enough for Liverpool.
  5. High Salaries never appealed to me. Once you have enough to cover the essentials, that's all you need. Those at the top tier of business are more motivated by running their businesses well, than taking home increases and bonuses. Some of them even sacrifice bonuses for the greater good of the firm.
  6. Turkeys don't vote for Christmas. The inquest was a sham, the evidence was full of holes, the verdict was a joke, and the sanction was a disgrace. If it was up to me, the club would be even more militant on the issue.
  7. Great to see the League Cup taken seriously by everyone at the club for a change. Win the final or not, I hope that we take it just as seriously next year, if we're back in Europe as well.
  8. Other people forget he didn't need to spend any money, he had the best side in Italy and Europe at the time. They also forget how he caused the "crippling injury list" himself. After he got the push, the players somehow got out of the treatment room in double quick time, and stayed out of it.
  9. It's that first name that pisses me off most. No such name, just a shit press attempt at shortening one.
  10. There probably was a mass cleansing exercise on the site after our recent league results.
  11. He is wasting his time. We will always know our stadium as Anfield. I think I know one thing. This game will not be played on Saturday at 3pm. Well done to the posters urging calm and restraint ahead of the tie. But it will fall on deaf ears.
  12. Pragmatic maybe. Sensible, not a hope. It should have been fought to the bitter end, so Luis would get his chance to clear his name. He won't get that now. The label over his head will stick for the rest of his career, wherever he ends up. Because of the stick he'll get, he will be off by next season.
  13. The club has done everything correctly so far, and I'm confident will take whatever steps are necessary to overturn this farce of a judgement. More holes in it than a fishing net. You can't award a 8-game ban on the basis of "probably". That's effectively a 2-month suspension for the misinterpretation of a word in a foreign language. It doesn't stand up.
  14. Whether it's safe or not, it won't be happening at Anfield. Indeed nothing will be happening at Anfield until the stadium issue is resolved. But as Kenny Dalglish and Margaret Aspinall amongst others, are resolutely against it, there will be no standing room at any stadium where we are playing at home, now or in the future. Safety v Atmosphere can only have one winner. And that is obvious at LFC.
  15. Coming Soon on Korea Central TV: "We thought you were weeping lately, so we thought we'd cheer you up. We can now bring you a full, uninterrupted showing of North Korea v Portugal in WC 2010. See exactly how your dear heroes performed against one of the best teams in the world. Also extended highlights of North Korea v Brazil later." Worth waiting 18 months for.
  16. He took 5 points off Napoli last season. Napoli qualified for the CL 2nd Round this week. We qualified to play QPR, Aston Villa, and Wigan Athletic this week. Everyone knows I backed him while he was here, as Liverpool fans should back the boss when he's new in the job. He tried his best in very difficult circumstances that few others were willing to tolerate. Even Deschamps turned us down. Kenny was, but with everything going on at the time, the recovery from the wasteful Rafa years and the thickos running the club was set to be a long one. It still is. We were 6th last February, and 100 million-odd quid later, we're still 6th now. The recovery is long and slow, but as frustrating as it is, we need to be patient. It will come. In other news, West Bromwich Albion played Wigan today. But who cares?
  17. Villa and Fabregas were freebies of course. He should have gone, but Barcelona haven't had a red card this year. Must be a new rule brought in. It's a contact sport, and as soon as Barcelona are roughed up a bit for a change, the dives pile up, the card-waving begins, and the ref duly obliges. Xabi went to a club where the coach didn't try to get rid of him. There are many changes in personnel at Real, but Xabi is guaranteed his game every week. Real bossed the game and Barcelona were useless for half an hour. Real continued to dominate until the jammy own goal. But Real will be back on top next week. It's about time Barcelona's dominance was ended. Real are the only team that can stop the water sprinkling, pighead throwers from success in Spain.
  18. I don't think so, he has the CL football he wanted. That was down to Rafa 100%. He should have never have tried it in the first place.
  19. If players want to play for clubs with CL football, they can go. Most players though leave here on good terms. He chose to behave differently, before, during, and after he left. He deserves the "reject" status he currently has elsewhere.
  20. He wouldn't play with Suarez upfront. He's lost unless he's playing upfront on his own. Every forward we had while he was here was sold off so he could play on his own upfront. That said, he's past it, and was past it 18 months ago. All the injuries crippled him, and all the layoffs as a result demoralised him, to the extent that he was even playing shit for Spain and was dropped in the World Cup. He's gone from one of the most feared forwards in Europe to a benchwarmer for an oligarch. He doesn't seem to care whether he plays or not these days. His loss.
  21. Posters here wanted him to be our coach 12 months ago. Lucky? They won't give him time, and he doesn't help himself with subs like what he brought on against us. 2 ex-Reds brought on just to wind us up. He got a kick in the teeth when we scored the winner. I think he's found the EPL a much more difficult task than the Portuguese League, it's a much more competitive league, and time can only tell whether he's up to it or not. And yes Mourinho coped very well, but Mourinho is a top class coach who has seen it all and won it all time and again. Chelsea's latest coach is a mere rookie by comparison, and has a lot to learn.
  22. So, you would be in the "Richard Sadlier" club then. Another man who doesn't understand what the words "qualified" and "major tournament" mean. We got through with 7 wins and 4 draws in 12 games. We qualified on merit. Next up is the Ireland WC group fixtures meeting later this week.
