  1. Agreed. That's part of the problem with teams going there, they sit back, pay them respect and let them play their way into the game inevitably losing 3-0. Go at them from the start, don't let them settle, boss the midfield and watch the gaps appear in front of their back four. They've been shipping goals left, right and center against worse sides than us.
  2. I agree with this, I don't believe there's a conspiracy that needs to be exposed. It really is plain and simple bullying, several referee's have referred to this. Ferguson has gone largely unchecked by the FA for 25 years, clearly when he explodes the FA respond. He clearly has an unhealthy influence. On the day most referee's just question themselves for every decision involving the mancs and we see the consequences.
  3. Big deal, Suarez is football's pantomime villain at the moment, good, football needs them given that it is after all entertainment. What would the likes of the holier than thou Martin Samuel and the like have to write about if it wasn't for Suarez? As many have pointed out there are plenty of other examples of 'cheating' that don't seem to cause such an uproar from Terry to Henry.
  4. Now seriously I was just about to tuck into some breakfast.... Is it possible for someone to tell him that if he needs to chew gum constantly he can do it with his mouth shut?
  5. Has to be a wind up, I don't believe anyone can be that moralising and self-aggrandising? Would his definition of 'role models' include the likes of Wayne Rooney or Sir Ryan Giggs?
  6. Exactly, a player so greedy they've managed to price themselves out of every European football club. Oh hang on....
  7. Yep although it's nice to see us finally take our chances normally we'd being going in at half-time 0-2 down. It's not all over this at 2-0.
  8. Apart from RVP they are very average in absolute terms. The Liverpool and United sides of 08/09 would walk the league. I appreciate we're not supposed to go against Sky's version of the greatest league but personally I think the quality has trailed off quite noticeably over three to four years. The mancs are the best of a bad bunch.
  9. I'm hoping so too, basing it pretty much on his time at Bolton. We need to recognise it's difficult to establish yourself at a Man City or Chelsea as you're competing against a conveyor belt of players who are brought in as the finished article.
  10. Agree with this but if we don't I'm sure there will be other teams prepared too. At his age it's very difficult to gauge, he could go on to develop into another Shaun Wright-Phillips at the moment with no end product. Equally we could have a top class player on our hands in three to four years. Walcott is a good example, he's been playing for seven years and has really only just begun to look like a top flight player over the last 18 months or so.
  11. That's a fairly safe bet. Suarez exceptional again, he's so far and away a better player than anyone else we have, where would we be without him?
  12. Just another screwed up transfer unfortunately, we've managed to get one transfer completely right in two years (Suarez).
  13. Exactly he should be on the touchline throwing up constantly into a bucket. When will the betrayals end?
  14. Don't sit on a toilet seat when you know the seat hinge is broken. It can be a very disturbing incident.
  15. We're shit scared of every side though now aren't we? We've bigged Stoke up to being near unbeatable anti-footballing giants and I now assume we'll be torn a new one by QPR tomorrow.
  16. Stating that he must be given xxx years is just as silly as insisting he should be shown the door after six months. Given his and FSG's inexperience a season by season view is probably realistic. His performance to date really hasn't been great so far but given the task he faces that's not surprising. For me I'd just like to see a bit of improvement over the second half of the season and at least a sign that he's addressing both the deficiencies in the squad and to be honest his own management and tactics. I'd like to read and hear a bit less from him as well. In many ways it's even more critical to see how FSG back him. Plan 'B' as far as they are concerned might well be for us to just tick along as a mid-table side and ensure that we cut our cloth accordingly and return a profit.
  17. Is this for real? If so, I think a long term commitment to a therapist, a course of mood stabilisers and a warning sign around his neck are probably in order.
  18. Is it just me or is there a hell of a clean out going on over the Christmas period? I can't remember so many well known people dropping like flies over a matter of a few days.
  19. I suspect if we don't this run of games will be the tipping point for his reign as far as the supporters are concerned.
  20. Agree with this, he needs to be at least given the rest of the season. It will be concerning if there is no hint of at least a discernible improvement over the next few months. I just get the impression that there really isn't a philosophy at all and that Rodgers and his backroom staff are really making it up as they go along, something works this week, next week it doesn't so it's ditched. His philosophy to date appears to be to fit players into a rough system that doesn't suit the players. Let's play 4-3-3 or 2-7-1 and get us to tap it around nicely. His one saving grace for me has been that as a manager he's been willing to give younger players coming through a chance. You can argue that he's been forced into it but I just couldn't see Roy Hodgson adopting the same approach.
  21. Yes that's fair enough but then as supporters we've watched a club downgrade expectations for the last four years. Even allowing for his rookie status there will and should be an acceptable level of performance. What's acceptable under the current circumstances? Bottom half finish? Relegation candidates? Relegation to the Championship? I'd suggest with the squad available to him a realistic position is probably around 7th/8th. We've spent most of the season in the lower half of the league and have briefly hit the giddy heights of 8th place. I know it's a difficult situation but there are numerous clubs above us doing far better with weaker squads, less money and no discernible philosophy beyond winning. Looking beyond results what's concerned me is simply the lack of fight or motivation within the team. Even if we're in the Blue Square league I'd expect a Liverpool side to go out and give their all. Watching us being out fought by Stoke was appalling. He isn't delivering that at the moment.
  22. If we don't improve he'll be shown the door. I've very little doubt that given their background (statistics driven sport) and the way FSG operate there will be defined targets. Given that Kenny was shown the door for not getting 4th and the really ruthless way he was discarded I expect the same fate awaits our current manager at the end of the season. Would it bother me? Not really, he's far too inexperienced and its showing week by week. I just don't feel a job as prestigious as being Liverpool's manager should be open to someone who requires on the job training. Many years ago I had to read a book (a rare event) as part of some tedious management training. One chapter focused on how inexperienced individuals cope with demanding and responsible management roles. The most common aspect was for the individual to buy into a long term rigid mantra and focus completely on delivering over the long term. Their mantra would usually be completely inflexible and would always exclude short to medium term delivery. The reason being that short term problems would be insurmountable given their lack of skills and experience so they'd convince themselves that it was all about their long term goal and they'd skip dealing with immediate issues completely. Invariably the business would go bust long before they ever got to implement their long term goals.
