  1. Did Boris say something untoward...? Just had a look at the dailies, and nothing mentioned in the Mail, Telegraph or Express. However, they did each lay the blame for mistakes on the limited abilities of civil servants. The great British press - serving the interests of Britain and the British people!
  2. "There's something off about Ange Postecoglou. Mark my words." 100%, Dave. Hold that thought... we'll be back!
  3. Morning, everyone. Everton still CHEATING and ruining football?
  4. Everton haven’t got an honest bone in their collective body. Through their CHEATING they have ruined the once great sport that we all love. The game is gone. Compromised. Polluted. Corrupted by shady businessmen cheered on by the gullible and the cognitively dissonant on the blue half of Merseyside. They are dishonest and no better than dogs. CHEATS, Everton!!
  5. Just popped in to say that I love my hybrid car. I just refilled it with petrol, the first time in 7 weeks, maybe. Saves me a lot of money on fuel.
  6. Just how long has this CHEATING been going on? I am sick of Everton sullying the great name of this city. They are an embarrassment to Merseyside. They are a disgrace to sport. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41878954.amp RELEGATE THEM!
  7. I'm sick of football clubs like Everton corrupting the integrity of the sport. We may as well do away with the game. Just put the trophy on a table in August and sell it to the highest bidder. "How many millions...? Yes, ok, you're the winner this year." "Don't go away yet, folks, we're selling off the champions for each of the next 15 years... Rules? We don't need rules." We may as well do away with offside, fouls, goals, fielding 11 players, only goalkeepers being able to handle the ball. Do away with everything. What about honesty and integrity in sport? What happened to that? CHEATS, EVERTON. You disgust me. CHEATS!
  8. Even if the 12 points doesn’t quite see them off, the fact that we can, without any credible doubt, chant “Cheats! Cheats! Cheats!” for 90mins every derby will be beautiful. Every blue will be broken. Come on, justice, do your thing!
  9. A good man. Loved Everton, loved the ideals of community. Old school. Shame it ended the way it did. He should have stepped aside a few years ago. Could have done without the hassle and aggro. edit: I don’t like the tone of the thread title. Hopefully unintentional from Bruce.
  10. Antisemitism is real and should never be devalued. My mum's grandmother was Jewish. She used to keep a sixpence in her purse so if "the Germans" ever invaded she'd definitely have enough for the meter and be able to gas herself rather than be taken by the Nazis. That's not melodrama. That was the lived experience of an old woman living in Liverpool in the 40s. I agree that this ridiculous finger-pointing at anything that is supportive of Palestine is declared as antisemitic. There's enough genuine racism out there to be concerned about without this dilution and devaluing of the very real lived experience of Jewish people.
  11. I just got the sense that his bitter heart wasn't really in it.
  12. Could only watch about 30 seconds of that. I take it the rest of it is the same.
  13. Great listen again (though I didn't get the cultural reference around understudies...? Was it all about Lethal Weapon...?). We were perhaps only as good as we needed to be, but still I was really concerned about the performance of Trent which wasn't really covered. As you mentioned, Mo was truly awful and in a just world should have been hooked. But Trent was overhitting everything, and strutting around in a concerning way. He needs to sharpen up. A few more steady off-Broadway passes rather than sparkly Hollywood passes which don't make it would help. We played well until the ball inevitably found its way to Trent or Mo, and then it went to pot. Mac Allister played probably his best game for Liverpool, so I feel a bit of encouragement there as I'm one of the few who wasn't fully sold on him. I want to see him in a more advanced role so we can more fairly assess him. Anyway, Paul missed Sandy Lyle. Surely everyone remembers Sandy Lyle from when we were kids?
  14. That's the "official" Premier League feed. She was defo SA, but I've never seen her before. I watched the same feed, and I do have to disagree with you about Beglin, mate. Yes, he called Konate fortunate not to receive a second yellow, but he didn't return to it. The director kept insisting on cutting to Konate at the final whistle, but that's nowt to do with Beglin, and of course, Osman was insistent on covering it in the post match discussion. But that was fair enough, as it's true Konate was fortunate.
  15. That statement is as carefully worded a statement as you'll ever read. And with good reason. But it's also a "we can't say it's fake but it's fake" conclusion. "Disqualified as a source of credible evidence" !?
  16. I agree, Sec. It won't work, but I think it's the inevitable direction of travel. Any semblance of consensus politics has long gone in the age of social media. Media talking points are more focused on culture war / single cut-through issues. Trump did it with his "Build a wall" and insulting nicknames for his opponents. He has left the GOP in tatters. I honestly think we're going to see a culture war with megatons of friendly fire. An unhealthy focus on the "boats" and gender reassignment will see the temporary demise of the Conservative Party. Gaining favourable engagement on Twitter / on GB News is the metric these people are focused on. So they'll keep cultivating it. And as a result they are going to split the right. Starmer has occupied the centre/centre right space. The tories are unable to contest it, so they turn their fire inwards. Look at some of these people. They rival the lunatics on the American right. 10 years ago UKIP nearly did for the Tories, so Cameron caved. They were an existential threat. And here we are again. They either now absorb Nigel the talking binlid into their party and moderate him, or he'll just keep pandering to the lunatic fringe, and the right will again break away. It used to be Labour/the left that was an un-unifiable amalgamation of factions (and still is to a lesser degree with the Corbyn devotees), but now it's much more the right. What happened with Labour will be mirrored, but in a much, much more pronounced way because of the starting position of so many on the right. Starmer wins. The length of his tenure is dependent on how long the tories are prepared to keep fighting for the outer edges of the right.
  17. True crime is always made and marketed towards a female audience. As I'm sure most of you know, the psychology behind it is "research/education/knowledge seeking". In other words, women are learning how to avoid/survive the inevitable attack from their enemy. Uplifting, isn't it?
  18. I was in with the Everton fans in the Paddock for that FA Cup game. The Barnes cross happened right in front of me. He'd been getting dogs abuse all game, then late on he glided into space and whipped that ball across for Houghton. As you'd imagine, I went hysterical celebrating. I then climbed onto the bar and gave it out like a man possessed. My Everton mates pulled me down in the end. I don't think you could do that any more. I'd gone to the game with my red and blue mates (most of us were a Sunday league team who had played earlier on). But, oh, Johnny Barnes...
