  1. I wish Alladyce would have got the England job, hours of fun in that one. Oh and, the second sentence below might be appropriately applied by ALL at the Club from time to time.
  2. The G14 might have been disbanded but i'm sure the prospect of a breakaway to form a seperate Europe League would raise it's head again if UEFA tried to ban clubs based on their debts, especially clubs as big as us and chelsea. Platini might have a dislike of English clubs and some in Europe might not like the domination that English clubs have had in the latter stages of the CL in recent years, but i'm certain the sponsors might have something to say also if their premier club competition didn't include teams who deserved to be there from a playing perspective.
  3. Already happened! In work tonight and a Blue walked through our workshop. "Alright Tone?" "Ah fuck off, it's a shit cup anyway, and yous, yous shouldn't even be in it! Fucking mickey mouse cup"
  4. Never mind what we'd do with the money, whether we'd buy A or B or C, whether the Yanks would pocket it, or whether it'd mean Rafa would/wouldn't stay longer. He's the best striker around. If we have ANY pretensions about getting back to being the top team around we should be keeping his like, not selling him. Sends out completely the wrong message.
  5. Having witnessed first hand Waltons performance yesterday, I would fully have expected him to book, and thus send off, Yossi, had he gone over, seeing as it was pretty much the end of the game and his only other option would've been to award a penalty. He was in a perfect position to see that Yossi was caught, and that he then tried to cross a ball off balance because he had been caught, there was plainly no advantage in that and he should have blown anyway. He decided not to see it. Adam Johnson was Ronaldoesque yesterday, he hit the floor half a dozen times and Walton, even after telling him to get up and carry on didn't book him. I'd like to think that Yossi's honesty will stand us in good stead but i won't hold my breath, especially after N'gogs dive against Birmingham and the shit we took for that.
  6. Don't think there's a Red in the world who wouldn't like to see us detroying teams as we were towards the end of last season. However, we are where we are now and pragmatism is the order of the day. For any of a variety of reasons we were conceding far too many goals earlier in the season, and that had to stop. The shackles are back on and we've consolidated to a point. Had we have gone out and lost 4-3 against City yesterday we'd now be 4 points behind them and them with a game in hand. It might have looked prettier and pleased the purists but as far as finishing in the CL shake up is concerned it would've made things a lot harder. It was imperative we didn't lose and we didn't, job done. Perhaps Benitez is looking towards not only ours, but also others fixtures and attempting to ensure if and when they slip up, we'll be in the best position to capitalise?
  7. I should add, i'm not necessarily advocating just signing local kids, or throwing reserves in at the drop of a hat, but for any young player to think they have a chance they've got to see others getting the opportunity. It's not an easy balancing act, but kids do get opportunities at other clubs.
  8. Local lads have got the message in recent years that they most likely won't get played if they join us, so, like Baxter for instance, they go to Everton or other teams. Unless more ressies start getting chances in the 1st team and less foreign youngsters are signed, it's unlikely we'll see a Gerrard or Carragher soon.
  9. Watched the highlights of the Stoke v City game late on last night. Man City were so lucky. Wiley isn't fit to referee, hasn't someone else said that this season...........? Annoying thing is, if we were even playing 50% of last seasons form we'd be away and gone at the top of the league by now. There's nothing special about ANY teams this year.
  10. Probability that with the revenue attracting top players, top managers would also be attracted? Ron Manager then would end up at a club 5th or worse. Wonder where that might be?
  11. I recall one of the national newspapers (Daily Express?) had an article once, it said perhaps we should be given Royal Assent and be called Royal Liverpool like Madrid are called Real Madrid. This was because of all the success brought to us by Shanks and particularly Bob Paisley, as we'd just won one of the European Cups. Maybe Bob would've been Knighted had that happened. It should have done. Never forgotten great man, never forgotten.
  12. When ferguson shuffles off, how about Gollum going to yernited and Colin taking over at the blues? Discuss.
  13. The problem with a lot of these "expert" commentators is that when they were playing, we were pissing on their chips on a regular basis. So this is their only chance to get back at us. Mind you, a few of our own don't need too much prodding to stick the boot in either! They're best watched with the sound off, they make much more sense then.
  14. Just seen Bex's earlier post. Doff's cap.
  15. Team will be: Reina Carragher Kyrgiakos Agger Insua Mascherano Lucas Kuyt Gerrard Rodriguez Ngog But I might be wrong.
  16. We'll start next season in a better financial position than manU. I think they are worse off than we are on that score. With no injuries, our starting 11 can be equal to anyone "on the day". Man City will have more money, but that doesn't necessarily guarantee them anything, it gives them a probable advantage. Arsenal have been underachieving for the last 3 seasons and show no major signs of changing that. Spurs and Villa could be surprises, depending on how well they stay the course with their squads. Stadium wise we will be 5th definitely. All the other possible criteria can change between now and the new seasons start. I'd like to think we've gone about as low as we can and that we'll be much better next season.
  17. The Board's Vote of Confidence is another. Problem with us Reds is we're the pawns in a game where the last one's to know will be us.
  18. Of course his agent doesn't make statements without his prior knowledge. I was reading between lines in that Rafa's statement said he had no agreement with Juve and that he wouldn't be talking to them. He may or may not have done, but he couldn't come out and say he has!! I wasn't being too serious, as the last line of my post was intended to indicate.
  19. Hicks turning up on Satdee, Rafa issuing an official statement. Linked? Cynics might say "He would have to say that wouldn't he?" And if the Agent is doing all the talking, then, strictly speaking Rafa isn't talking to another Club. Derby week, isn't it great!!!
  20. Sterling work by ATK & DD, again. There must be some willing on Moores' part to correct things as surely he'd have just blanked the meeting if he didn't give a flying one? Parry's involvement is strange. Can't figure that one. Unless one is acting for Hicks and the other for Gillett? I suppose it's a case of wait and see.
  21. Shit football, crap ref, great entertainment!!
  22. I've been expecting this one for a while now. Dear oh dear. I don't want ANYONE who calls ferguson "Sir" managing this Club.
