Without looking at the stats, I can't help but be amazed at the progress in the last 12 months. Under Hodgson we didn't even achieve mediocrity, we had Konchesky at left back, missed out on Carlton Cole, but more importantly, the football was awful. I enjoy watching us play again. Our bench is now better than Spurs, Arsenal and probably Utd (inconceivable 12 months ago). The only thing missing is a finisher. People hate us again. To paraphrase Alan G Partidge, we're bouncing back.

Wish we'd have spent £35m on Suarez and £25m on Carroll. Suspect nobody would have batted an eyelid and same sum spent. He can only work with the service he's getting and that's simply not been good enough.

Because unfortunately they're likely to beat us to 19 this year and they don't have a better centre midfielder than Lucas, hence defeating his argument. For my part, I also think he's better than Mikkel.

Life goes on. Could have been a legend. They need rebuilding more than us. In 3 years time only mikkel and essien will remain. Gutted. Would rather lose him than pepe though.

Gerrard is the most complete footballer I've ever seen. Right back, centre half, centre mid, right mid, support striker. He could be the best player we have in any of those positions. I'm going to bore my kids and grandkids all about him.

Seems Henry's read The King's book. He mentions gestures such as this and bringing together Melwood and the Academy. Nice tweet from Henry congratulating Pepe after the game on Monday as well. NESV are certainly making the right noises. Fingers crossed they keep it up.
