FIFA should not be letting this influence their decision of where to host a World Cup. The press were not hoping to stage the World cup. The press can't improve a World Cup by it's reporting or worsen it by it's reporting. The press can't control safety at a World Cup. The press can't make England win it. The press can't make the games have more goals or make the referees competent. The press can't make FIFA corrupt - they either are or aren't.

    It's not very scientific to suggest that the removal of a sulky genius was the single contributing factor to an improved season the following year. I thought Wenger signed a new long term contract at the beginning of that Henry-less season and that probably had a far bigger impetus for your season. Wenger concentrating on his project at Arsenal and not lifting his skirt for Real Madrid every few months would have helped enormously. Anyway, that season might have been rosier for you in respect of Premiership points but it wasn't that great I'll imagine when we dicked you right out of the Champions league. Enjoy your memories.

    Great example there Abs... Arsenal selling a near 30 year old player who had peaked. Btw how many trophies have you won since you sold him? If Arsenal had Torres he'd be the best striker at your club too and there's no way you'd sell him. The media analyse the fuck out of his 2 half chances (maximum) that he get's for us each game, it's potty, his record speaks for itself. There's not a team in world football who wouldn't play him if they had him, injury niggles and all.

    That's a way too simplistic way of viewing it. For instance, if we didn't have to service the debt and had spent that or some of it on transfers I doubt we'd be 19th. That said, he removed a good manager and replaced him with mediocrity at large expense to the club and my sanity.
